In one of my favourite episodes of Fawlty Towers (“Gourmet Supper”) the diners are kept waiting for ages and ages for the food to arrive. The series was of course set in Torquay, and based on a real hotel in the town. I think it is highly likely that John Cleese may have got the inspiration for this particular episode... More

We come to torquay once a year and we have a meal at man Fridays, the service this year was terrible, staff didn't know what was going on, had to wait 20 mins just for a bottle of wine with a screw top! After having to ask 3 members of staff, our main meal took well over a hour to... More

Really impressed by the quality and variety of ths shellfish platter here. Was really tasty. The portion size was too large but other than that was brilliant. Fresh lobster crab and crevettes all cooked perfectly. The meal came to 80 for two with a bottle of house rose. Excellent service.

Myself and my girlfriend ate here last night and had the sharing platter. It was a really enjoyable meal with fresh lobster, pawns, crab, squid, mussels and lots of other seafood. It was £54 for 2 people, and included potato and vegatable sides, which sounded lovely. On arrival the sides were a big let down and let the seafood down.... More

Getting a table on a Friday night considering not having booked was a great start. Didn't have a lot of time as travelling back home after visiting the area so went straight for mains. Complimentary bread, olives and garlic spread which was all delicious. Ordered a seafood platter for 2. Wow - fresh lobster, crab, calamari, scallops, prawns, mussels, crab... More

For many years we didn't even consider this restaurant as the entrance is down a bit of a scruffy sideway and sits above a slightly scruffy shop. About 3 years ago we finally made the effort. Fantastic food, tasty and great menu choice. Very very good seafood. Homemade little bread loaf arrives at the start of your meal with a... More
