Great Pub, Great Music

Visited this gorgeous old pub on Sunday 22nd February, we (partner and I) had heard about it and decided to go there for a drink in the evening. Very welcoming and a good choice of real ale's (for partner). There was a guy playing the guitar and singing and then it was a free for all for anyone who... read more

This pub was recommended by the owners of our hotel (the Haytor, nearby) and we could see why. Classic pub with adjoining restaurant. Good choice of wines and the food was excellent. We decided to dine in the bar area but the restaurant looked popular with locals and visitors alike. Not a huge place so booking is advised.

I visited this restaurant with my elderly parents so the taxi dropped us to the door, which saved the walk up the hill. We started with a drink at the friendly bar and was then escorted to our table. All the food was piping hot and the amazing taste of the fish and vegetables made my younger tingle. The staff... More

Firstly if you've ever seen Lord of the rings and the new hobbit films you'll possibly get my reference to there houses... The name is deceiving in away it's quite roomy, you walk in to the bar which is a lovely old style place which you expect from it been made way back when, lovely and quirky with low ceilings... As its the oldest pub in Torquay we thought we'd pay it a visit for lunch. Very warm welcome, good local ales and I had an excellent crab sandwich, my partner had bacon and cheese baguette with chips, this was well cooked, hot and thoroughly enjoyed! Will return when next in Torquay.

Oldest pub in town. Beer was good. Food was alright but not the greatest. Chips were hard and cold. Hamburger patty came in 5 different pieces. Staff was nice.

Although tucked away this is one of the busiest pubs in Torquay. Old with a stone floor, low beams, nautical theme and a life size pirate! Good food, good ales and friendly staff.

Found this place on Saturday by accident. Called in for a quick drink and really glad we did. We went back on the evening for a meal and the food was excellent especially the scallops the only thing wrong was that they came with rice.... Unusual but thought we would give it a try. Scallops cooked to perfection but the... More
