Lovely ambience... old old pub loads of character excellent menus - reasonably priced. With a smugglers theme you wont be disappointed in the low beams and orginal flooring in places. A wide variety of food and ales.

The ambience, food, staff, beer are all first class, it's a must if you're around the harbourside. Dave does his upmost to provide the best ales and an extensive menu in a quiet atmosphere, there's also live music .
Delicious food served with a friendly atmosphere the oldest Inn in Torquay worth the visit children welcome but was not explained to me that as there is no children's menu they will do half portions so my daughter's had aldult size meals
We came here on recommendation from the hotel owners that we were staying at.
The pub is local but not yocal, comfortable with a variety of seating, good ales and ciders on tap, dog friendly and off the main road enough to keep the rowdy crowds out.
Only downside - if you're tall, mind your head!!!
If I'm visiting Torquay...

this was recommended to us and we found it very good value the staff were courteous and obliging and the food was delicious.
We received a very warm welcome at this pub. The food was above average for a pub. I ordered a blue steak but it was not blue but rare when served. They were economical with the vegetables and a mandatory service charge was added.
We have eaten at the Hole in the wall a few times and have to say the food and service have always been excellent. The staff are very friendly and welcoming even when the restaurant is busy and the food is...

what a nice change to find a pub with atmosphere, old world charm, and an interesting menu where the service is fantastic as well. Lovely local fish dishes, such a change from the usual chain pubs. We will certainly go again when we are next in Torquay - its a good iodea to book as this is a very popular place!
good service and tasty food in interesting surroundings pity about the outside area of pub the building opposite should be cleaned and painted but it is not the pubs fault
Good atmosphere with a large selection of beers and wine. The menu was not massive but what was available was nicely cooked. The fayre was also reasonably priced.
