Return visit after big gap - impressed

This was a return visit after a long time and I was impressed. The food was really good and all of the people I went with (there were six of us) were really happy with all three courses. They could do with putting bread and water on the table but overall this was no big deal.

Had a really good meal, we took the set menu which was excellent. The wine was reasonably priced and pleasant. The only bugbear was that as we sat down we were asked if we would like some water, we said yes expecting tap water and were very surprised when a bottle was delivered. We were even more surprised when we... More

My group went to the Barbican Kitchen for our office party. The food was average. Some of us had the slow cooked beef in red wine. This was a roll cut into thick slices and then seared on both sides. This meant that half of the meat was too hard to eat. House wine tasted terrible but I suppose that's... More

We visited in December 2014 for lunch. Staff were professional, and pleasantly not overbearing. The food was superb from start to finish. We started with wonderful devilled whitebait in a gorgeous spicy batter - the best whitebait I have ever had. Main course was a rare ribeye with peppercorn sauce - lovely! Even better were the amazingly accompaniments: crispy onion... More

Difficult to park, to ascend the stairs and it has a Dickensian feel in the winter. But it is consistently good. Treated ouselves to a rare Chateaubriand with skinny fries and Madagascar pepper sauce + half litre of Pinot Noir and courgettes. Good meat, perfectly rare; a most satisfying dish. Discussed with our waitress and the manager the style of... More

booked a table for 12 people for our works Christmas party on Saturday 20th December, chicken liver parfait was really nice and that's where it ended. Christmas dinner was big enough for a child. Turkey looked and tasted like a cheap Bernard Mathews turkey roast, hard carrots (why) nobody likes them. cheese board? more like a minute taster. although the... More

While on a mini break we stumbled upon this restaurant. Just two of us but plenty of party goes, groups as big as thirty, but we were not left out. Crackers, lovely food and a great atmosphere, waiting staff very polite and attentive. Food great. I liked everything I had..... Butternut/ beef risotto.

Great meal, all piping hot, the entire group of 28 were served together, the waiting staff were attentive with nothing being too much trouble. The chef brothers Chris and James were also in the kitchen, they found time to speak to us all too. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommend

I was one of a party of 35 who descended upon this restaurant last night and it was also packed with various other Christmas parties going on. All I can say is well done to them! The service was fast and all the food looked and tasted fantastic according to my colleagues (mine certainly was). The atmosphere was also very... More
