Good food, attentive staff

We didn't expect to get in as we turned up on a Friday night without booking. I'm so glad we did. Shared the Chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly. Great deserts and the staff were very attentive. I requested part of my steak reheated as it had cooled down. Not complaining as this was my fault... read more

Went for lunch and had the set menu, not that much choice. The food was lovely but just not amazing. I would go back because it wasn't bad but considering the competition locally i think this place needs to seriously up it's game.

We had early evening meal here and ate from the set menu. My starter was a crispy fried egg which was so delicious and unusual I asked the chef how it was done. I will be practicing this dish when I get home! Everything about the place was good even its location above the Plymouth gin distillery. And as fort... More

When this restaurant opened a few years back it was great - lovely decor and good food. Decor looking a bit older - don't mind that but I do mind the awful food and terrible service. I was surprised to be able to get a table on a Friday night but can now see why. Starter, terrrine, served with an... More

There was nothing wrong with it but it just didn't do it for me. I had devilled whitebait for a starter and it was good. Flavour was great. Then I had fish and chips. The portion size could have fed two people-the batter was too heavy and saturated in fat making it unpleasant to eat. Chips were good. My dining... More

Dined here last week as a birthday celebration...party of ten..there is a choice of a two or three course menu..very good value if on a budget or the normal menu...we all opted for the latter..allthough not a huge selection..most tastes and preferences catered for...between us we sampled most off the starter selection...scallops were excellent..and the poached pears and sweet pot... We stumbled on this place during an overnight stop in Plymouth. The service and ambience were excellent, the staff attentive without being overbearing, the food reasonably priced (a little more than some of it's local competition) and of excellent quality, with sensible portion sizes...apart from the mixed Olives appetiser - a tiny bowl with 14 stone in olives was less... Had a business diner here and was very pleased with the experience. Nice staff and the food was very good. Nice atmosphere as well, both the interior, as well as the exterior of the building. Worthwhile to remember for future trips to Plymouth.

I ate here with 2 of my sons today. A really delicious Mothers Day lunch! I've eaten here several times before and although the food has been good the portions have left you feeling hungry. Not today thankfully! Starters of mussels, scallops and chicken liver parfait, mains of lemon sole and roast pork and puddings for the men where plentiful,... More
