Platters serves up a lively atmosphere, truly excellent service and a very very good fish menu. We were delighted at having chosen it for an informal meal with friends on the Barbican. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because of the colossal quantity of chips that arrived with the meals we ordered, without us being asked... More

If you are looking for a smart restaurant don't go to Platters but if you want some of the best fish cooked perfectly and with very generous portions, then it is the place for you. It is situated on Plymouth's historic Barbican not far away from the very busy Fish Quay. It has a great down to earth atmosphere, the... More

Over the years I've been a regular visitor to this excellent fish restaurant, during the summer months you may have to wait for a table because it's always popular with the tourists, which believe me are quite varied, wait in the Dolphin next door for a good pint of ale. The decor itself is quite dated & cramped but this... More

A long term favourite. But I know it has its slight weaknesses. Avoid the prawn salad and the stroganoff which together with one or two other items are inexplicably disappointing. Don't be precious about sharing your table or the absence of anything close to silver service. Anticipate that even if you book way in advance you may have to wait... More

From outside it looks like a transport café, ( not that I don't like them), but once inside (and you will need to book) this place is amazing. The quality and quantity of the food is brilliant, you ain't gonna walk away from this one feeling hungry.

Perfectly cooked fish and very good service. When in Plymouth try this. The place is small so it can be good to book a table in advance.

Came here for a nice lunch with the mother-in-law. It was very disappointing. If you order the standard fish and chips you would be ok. I ordered a prawn sandwich. Firstly they were small tiny prawns that looked shop bought. Secondly they were freezing, like they had just come out of the freezer and put in my sandwich. Thirdly the... More

Lunch of Fresh locally caught Crab . Bowl of Crisp Chips and salad of mixed Leaves was served quickly and with a smile ... the Dover Sole Fillets were boneless - grilled to succulent perfection . . Freshly brewed coffee ended a perfect lunch
