A Plymouth landmark

A trip to Plymouth doesn't seem complete without a visit to Platters. Been probably six or seven times but not reviewed before. Usually have the enormous battered fish, but this time went for the fresh mackerel. Meant to be one whole mackerel but it was late and they gave me two, plus chips... read more

Eat in for an amazing (huge) portion of Fish and Chips in a wonderful atmosphere.... or if you prefer a lobster or freshly caught crab, these looked amazing too and our fellow diners couldn't recommend them enough.

As a relatively new Plymouth resident this was my first visit to Platters - after it being recommended several times by different people. We went as a group of 5 - including a friend who'd recommended the place - and had booked a table. We arrived for the time of our booking, 20:10, and got straight in. The staff were... More

I have been to Platers several times since moving to Plymouth and it's never failed to disappoint! Small friendly place always with a lively and fun atmosphere. The food is gorgeous and in generous portions! Always recommend Platers to friends and family and will continue to come back! Thank you!

I came here with my family for a late birthday celebration. The fish and chips, although a little overpriced considering it is the same as you'd get from the counter next door, was very good. The scallops in tomato sauce was not great, a bit tasteless and the sauce spoiled the scallops. A cosy restaurant that offers pretty good food.

In our visit to Plymouth we spotted a promising seafood restaurant in the historic Barbican area. Apparently, this family-run restaurant opened 30 years ago, sourcing their fish from the Plymouth Fish Market, just across the street: there is nothing fresher than from sea to plate. Seafood lovers will be pleased to see the menu, which includes a fine selection to... More

Went for some Sunday lunch....was asked if we'd booked a table, for 2, we hadn't but was told we were 'lucky' as there was table on the corner, menus were brought and I tried to order a drink to be berated by the owner who said three times 'you'll have to wait your turn, there is another table in front...
