We go to Platters about once or twice a year, and our feelings are always the same. This is not fine dining, but the prices are on the high side. From the decor, to the waiters and to the tables, it's not as clean and fresh as a restaurant should be. I don't mean it's dirty, it's not, just somewhat... More

We are long term Loyal and happy regulars. We are never organised enough to book but also know that booking is notional anyway and no guarantee that a table will be ready for you. We tend to pitch up, often bet seated quickly but as often bet sent off to the Dolphin for a pint or two and then get... More

We have eaten here before on a previous visit, where I was given what possibly was one of the best Lobsters I had ever been served, this time however the Lobster was smaller but being served two to make up for being small was a bonus.. can't fault that. The rest of my family all had great fish and we... More

We initially went to another chippy but due to the queues moved a few doors down to this one, no queues at all, makes you wonder why a little, well don't, we ate some of the finest fish and chips I have eaten for a while, we opted for take out and sat on the harbour eating, quality and quantity... Platters serves up a lively atmosphere, truly excellent service and a very very good fish menu. We were delighted at having chosen it for an informal meal with friends on the Barbican. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because of the colossal quantity of chips that arrived with the meals we ordered, without us being asked... More

If you are looking for a smart restaurant don't go to Platters but if you want some of the best fish cooked perfectly and with very generous portions, then it is the place for you. It is situated on Plymouth's historic Barbican not far away from the very busy Fish Quay. It has a great down to earth atmosphere, the... More
