Will definitely return, has become our favourite restaurant in Plymouth.

We visited The Chancel last night for a last supper before my partner goes away for 4 months. The welcome was warm and friendly, the food, service and ambience excellent. Can't wait to revisit. Thank you

We have visited the Chancel a few times now and are never disappointed. Latest visit was for our wedding anniversary, with friends. Again the food was second to none and the staff were exceptional, very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend anyone to enjoy a meal at this lovely restaurant.

Have visited this restaurant several times and the food is delicious and the service is attentive. In terms of value for money - it is neither cheap nor expensive. For best ambience and comfort - reserve a table on ground level (road level) as the basement level is a bit dark and chilly and the chairs are uncomfy. I would... More

We were staying in Plymouth in April as a family and dined out at the Chancel on our last night. The restaurant is tucked away in a nice back street next to the Church and is cosy and welcoming. Staff were friendly and relaxed. We had a great meal, really nicely cooked, from a menu which included a selection of... More

Visited for my husband's birthday and they welcomed us with a birthday card and banner. The food was lovely a real melt in the mouth steak and perfectly cooked carrots! My husband had the pork belly and said it was the best pork meal he has had. Pudding was accompanied by a fantastic sparkler and song. A great welcome and... More

Came here on a week day, fairly quiet but really nice restaurant with great wine & seafood menu. I ordered scallops for starter and fish and chips for main.. I have to say the the scallops were so fresh and tender, cooked in garlic butter.. The best Iv tried considering Iv dined out in many sea food restaurants! Keep up... More

We chose this restaurant for a meal during a short visit to Plymouth mainly on the strength of its Tripadvisor reviews - and we weren't disappointed! Staff were very welcoming, the menu varied and interesting, and the food beautifully cooked and clearly using excellent ingredients - my friends who had sea-bass with scallops were raving about the freshness and flavour... First time visit and absolutely enjoyed the whole experience. Chilled evening & great food & a impressive wine menu. Can't wait to go back & try their normal menu.

My wife and I did the 'Surf or Turf' groupon deal, and we weren't disappointed! The food was plentiful and beautifully cooked, the wine sublime and the service second to none. Add to this a warm welcoming ambience and you have a winning combination which guarantees a good evening. Just fabulous!!
