Too many council restrictions.

The folk who run this place try hard but are set about by conditions imposed by environmental health or the licencing committee. What an amazing pub. The landlord was fantastic. He was very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was to much trouble for him to make your visit comfortable. The beer and wine was cheap and excellent. Where can you go and have a good quality wine for £6 per bottle. Bottle of port £12 and her even did Stilton cheese and crusty... More

another lovely pub around plymouth, nice friendly bar staff, gorgeous cooked food, with great portions and value for money, good priced drinks, and lovely layout, with small coffee table and chairs here, table surrounded by sofas there and then long bench tables over there, its a great little place to go have a bit of grub, a nice drink, relax... I came along with my family to have a meal together and a few drinks. After lunch we used the pool table. The manager came out from the kitchen and told us to stop laughing as he couldn't hear his Classic FM.

As the slogan describes, the Woodside encapsulates a very strong feeling of an old local, expected in the rolling hills of rural Devon. Inside is reasonably clean, nothing out of the ordinary for a traditional pub (think cleaner than a Wetherspoons, but not a PizzaExpress). What truly makes this pub one of my local favourites is the people. The bar... More

Oh dear. This place used to be friendly a few years ago however, last night was a different story. The bar man was surly, the manageress was disinterested and the two drunk regulars at the bar clearly took a dislike to us (one must assume due to the fact that we were the only other people in there) so, before... I went with a group of friends to eat dinner there before joining in with the pub quiz. I ordered rare cooked steak with fries and I was seriously impressed! The high quality of the cut was evident and the tenderness and juiciness of the meat made it one of the most delicious meals I have had- certainly one of... More

Came here for the first time in about 10 years, and we will definately be going back. The pub quiz on a Tuesday was great fun, really well organised. They serve food in the evening between 5-8pm and it was fantastic value, all home cooked and the vegetarian options were a welcome surprise...thankyou! Amazing staff and service.
