Description: A good retail area family restaurant serving Greek dishes as well as Aberdeen steaks. A speciality also for flambé dishes. On a par with existing similar listings such as Zeus and Leandra. Many think a more friendly and attentive venue.Deserves a listing as much as the others.

Have always eaten in Lanterns when in plymouth, but this weekend was the last weekend as it stands, like walking back into the 70's with the artex walls, mock tudor and the multi-coloured lantern's. Food was of the usual standard and busy too. Just that the refurb goes well and wish the owner, family and team well for the re-opening on the... More

Last Wednesday, on a visit from London, we dined at Lanterns. Delicious fresh crab cocktail and superb Dover sole, staff charming and attentive, ambience warm and friendly. I wish it was in my neighbourhood! John Gatenby.

After reading previous negative reports four of us decided to try it having not visited Lanterns for a while.Luckily we pre-booked as it was packed by 7pm.The waiter took our drinks order immediately and did not hurry us to select our food. The three course meal was faultless(steak cooked to choice and my chicken was delicious). The staff were rushed off their... We ate at Lanterns on a Sunday and I have to say I was shocked. It was like where Gordan Ramsay goes on tv. The place was dirty and the food was so was plain there was no taste to it. We all had dodgy Tummys after our visit to this restaurant. We went to the Toliet and all you... More

We wanted a nice meal before going to the cinema. We don't get to go out often so wanted somewhere a little bit special. We decided against the chain restaurants like Nandos or Frankie and Benny's but I wished we hadn't. We parked in the only space available and the Lanterns was the closest. We were shown a table but... More

From the moment my Mum and I walked into the restaurant, there was a fairly horrible smell. Everywhere you looked, you would be able to see dirt. We thought we would try and over look this and give the restaurant a chance. We were shown to our table and were handed the most filthiest grease stained, sticky menus. When our... More

We had travelled to Plymouth for a bit of "Back to School" shopping and wanted to get a good lunch without paying a lot and without having to have "fast food". Having tried the 3 course deals in Plymouth before, this was what we were looking for. Lanterns was the first of these types of cafes that we came to... More

We visit this restaurant quite often in the last three years. The food is always very good and the staff very attentive and friendly. This evening the food was the best we have had here. Do try the kleftikon for a more greek/ cypriot experience that never fails. The kebabs (not your usual kind, clean and properly cooked meat) and... More
