Heard some pleasant reports of a new simple tea shop specialising in the wares of the local Janner Jam chit preserve company. Been past twice this week trying to have a snack or tea here. Perfect weather and lots of folk about but the place is all shut up. Made enquiries today only to be told that Janner Jam is... More

Janner Jam has been around for a year or so. The business has grown to the point where using the brand and quantities of the product in its many flavours they have taken over the old Menu Cafe and Gallery and turned it into a tea shop and cafe with a good deal of emphasis on scones and cream teas... Had expected Janner Jam cafe would by now have its own Tripadvisor listing, but meantime This is a review of the new cafe which is in the old Menu Cafe corner building on the Parade. It looks as if it's trading ahead of the full decorations. The waitress told us there were more things including pictures and signs to come.... More

Janner Jam is a newish Plymouth based brand of 'home made' jams with various flavours recently hawked about many local, predominantly tourist targeted, outlets, but which now has it's own 'home' in an interesting building which until last year was occupied by the Menu Cafe Gallery. It has stood empty for many long months and there I no sign of... More

I liked the old place but have been in to the new cafe today. A very ham name and the quirky interior has been completely toned down but it was pleasant efficient with reasonable snack food and surprisingly busy. Time perhaps for a fresh TP listing of its own.

Very pleasant cafe on the Barbican for five years. No idea why it's closed. I see from the sign on the door that the furniture and equipment is up for sale. I heard that there was a fire upstairs a while ago. Maybe the building needs work. There are few remaining premises on the a Barbican which retain even a... More

Shame turned up and it was closed was really looking forward to tea and toast, and a good chat to the locals.

My husband and I enjoyed a tasty generous breakfast in this small cafe in a great location close to the harbour. Convenient parking (paid) outside which was good for me as I'm on crutches at the moment. Lovely freshly cooked ingredients in the full English and breakfast sandwich and great coffees. There was a bit of confusion over our order... More

This is an unusual room with a nice take on cafe and snack bar. Quite warm to the personalities but needs to keep an eye on the simple things like wiping down the tables and noting new arrivals. Food generally well up to value and standard but occasionally a duff one creeps through.

What a gem....been here several times now, the food is very nice, great value for money and the staff are extremely friendly. Although not very big, it's cosy and very relaxed....would highly recommend and will undoubtedly be visiting again very soon. Thank you for a great experience.
