Pleasantly situated overlooking the Barbican, the Fishermans Arms is a traditional pub with real ales, a warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent food. This is a pub and the food is good quality and great value. Reputedly the second oldest pub in Plymouth (grade 2 listed)we are steeped in history and have one of the last surviving remnants of the original Plymouth Castle.

A Great Sunday Lunch

A very friendly pub which is tucked away near the Barbican. With a lovely open fire on a wet windy Sunday, the Fisherman's is a nice place to be. The staff were very welcoming from the start. Mr Jones the resident miniature schnauzer was lovely and took to our 6 month old Westie and they were like best mates instantly. The service was great, the food was quick and really well prepared and reasonably priced. The barman even lite the lounge fire for us which I have to admit... More

What can I say about Elaine & her partner the chef? For a Liverpool fan, she was a good stick! It's obviously a family affair because her brother helps behind the bar. There were 3 members in our group & were simply looking for something to eat. However, as a real ale drinker, it also had a couple of what... More

Not on a major thoroughfare, but well worth seeking out, the Fishermans Arms is located on the edge of the Barbican. Earlier today, I took my family there for Sunday dinner - and was delighted by the staff, the food, and the bill !!! It really is excellent value and well worth a visit.

We enjoy this pub. We came on Saturday for a pint and a simple lunch. We had a couple of sandwiches. Nothing wrong with the fillings or trimmings but the bread was disappointing. I don't know whether it was just a bad time. A friendly young lad nipped out just after we ordered and returned minutes later with a bag... More

Every two bit failing pub in the town does a stupidly cheap indifferent car very for people who can't be bothered or have no idea how to do it at home. The newborn Fishermen's Arms is unequivocally not that. It is friendly, welcoming, unpretentious, laid back, with a thoughtful, sensible, tasty, well cooked and presented, good value menu. It's a... Someone has taken on the task to open this place and have a stab at creating a new business, and they gave me a fantastic impression. Beautiful decor, open fire, warm welcome, dog friendly, great fresh food, and a desire to please. I lovely place to chill and relax in this FREEHOUSE. Thanks for a great time and a very... More

We have been here before and enjoyed our meals but it is under different management. We had traditional Sunday Roast and at £5.95 for a regular size lunch which was adequate it was delicious. The open fire and friendly welcome from staff and locals makes it a must visit when feeling hungary in the Barbican. Only complaint they need a... More
