Pleasantly situated overlooking the Barbican, the Fishermans Arms is a country pub located in the middle of Britain's Ocean City. Real ales, a warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent food. The food is good quality and great value. Reputedly the second oldest pub in Plymouth (grade 2 listed), we are steeped in history and have one of the last surviving remnants of the original Plymouth Castle.

Good traditional pub food

Hidden on the hill behind the Barbican is a traditional styled pub/restaurant. The menu was comprehensive and the food was well presented and tasty. That said, when we ate, the pub was very busy so the food was slow to arrive. I was totally surprised when the landlady brought a complimentary... read more

Been here a few times now since we stumbled arcross just after Christmas, everytime we come here all the staff always make you feel welcome, the food is lovely & nothing is to much trouble for them, the atomphere is great with games & log fire & you don't get the coperate feel you get with so many pub chains... 2 daughters and I booked for Sunday lunch (although we may have been able to turn up as the pub was busy and bustling but did not seem totally full). Small roasts ideal for girls (11 and 17) and the big roast for me including the three types of meat on offer at very reasonable price. Piping hot, seemingly very... More

Visited many times in early Feb 16, Always greeted by welcomming staff with the lovely Donna leading them all. Good value for money, espically if you are a Camra member. It's a genuine free house with 3 ales on tap, food; never had a bad dish, but it is the customer service that makes this place stand out.

A quiet tuesday evening was made more enjoyable at the Fishermans with the friendly staff,a huge log fire and wonderful food. The fishermans platter was such good value and well presented, a huge meal consisting of steak, gammon, chicken, sausage etc.... Absolutely lovely and great value!

Called in lunchtime Sunday hoping to have a roast dinner... Although fully booked we managed to get a table for a minimum time.. Roast beef was gorgeous.. Generous thick slices of tender beef, with a good selection of vegetables, homemade Yorkshire pudding...very reasonable price and option to go large! Service was friendly and very knowledgeable regarding the pub being historic.... More

This is a very popular place for a Sunday roast and the portions are good value for £. We were pleased we didn't order a large lunch as they would have been too much. But on waiting to be served one member of the staff was fondling the pubs dog, which later sat on cushioned seating until more people came... More
