Ate & drank here at last Fireworks Championship and hoped to do so again. Another excellent pub killed by greedy pubcos and outrageous taxes :(

I felt I had to write and reply regards the last persons review on the fish and chips. Well all I can say is that the review is absolute garbage! The fish and we ordered it on no less than a dozen occasions was massive and would hardly fit on the plate!!! In fact the owner always made a comment... More

Not at all surprised the Fishermans has closed. It just didn't fit to either a top eaterie or good pub. I found the owner pretentious and a little snobbish. They were trying too hard to turn a good local pub into an upmarket restaurant. Whilst doing this they totally lost the community feel of the pub. The fact that the... More

The previous comment from lobster mad sum it all up. A real shame that this has closed. What is it with the lack of adventure and support from Plymothians?? It does worry me at times. Please enjoy yourselves and support local business!

Yet another independent restaurant serving great food in convivial surroundings, closed down thanks to the scandalous rent charged by the breweries, the ruinous business rates imposed by the council, and from the lack of vision from Plymothians who are still happy to frequent high street chains where the money leaves the city to head offices in London or abroad rather... Came by last night (Thursday) in search of supper, and surprised to find the place closed, for the first time in years. Discovered in this morning's local newspaper that the owners or tenants of this foodie pub have closed down and made this known by Twitter. No other explanation. Have to say though, that although the food here was reasonably... More

We turned up on a wild and wet night and enjoyed a very tasty meal of fish pie and mussels and chips. The food was very well done indeed. The pub itself is cosy and intimate, with a welcoming coal fire. The pub itself

This lovely pub did us proud , we visited on a Sunday lunchtime for a 90 th birthday meal. The e mails before were extremely helpful and they went the extra mile ensuring the event went well. Food was good , service excellent , very friendly. It has great character close to the historic barbican. Highly recommend

We are new to the area and have been trying to find a decent pub/restaurant, I have to say up to now we have been a bit disappointed with what was on offer up until now. Having visited The Fishermans Arms, I have to say this is by far the best food on offer in Plymouth by a landslide. Not... More

Starter soup was amazing but we were bitterly disappointed when our roast dinner was served. Looked fine however, bacon wrapped sausage looked raw and wasn't very warm, roast potatoes (normally my favourite part) were like rubber, they felt tough and not at all crunchy or fluffy in middle yuck! The turkey was very thick with blood streaks throughout, again not... More
