Pleasantly situated overlooking the Barbican, the Fishermans Arms is a traditional pub with real ales, a warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent food. This is a pub and the food is good quality and great value. Reputedly the second oldest pub in Plymouth (grade 2 listed)we are steeped in history and have one of the last surviving remnants of the original Plymouth Castle.

After reading the latest review we feel rather disappointed for the Fishermans Arms and felt we should write our own review in their defence. We have eaten there on a number of occasions and have had no issues with the food! The roast has always been prepared and presented as good value for money and we are sure if there... More

After reading all the reviews on here we booked our table and were looking forward to some good grub!!! (down here from chesterfield for a short break to see family). We reviewed the menu to see what was available, although it is a standard pub menu the pictures on here seemed to give the impression of some real good, and... More

Went into this pub for the first time to see if it was my idea of a real pub. I have found that recently most of the pubs in the Barbican area are now too commercial for my taste. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was not the case with the Fisherman's Arms. The landlady, Donna and landlord,... More

Lovely pub tucked in behind the Barbican in Plymouth. Well worth seeking out; go up the steps near Lambhay Hill and follow the sign. Very warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and lovely pub food. You can get locally caught fish and crab, see specials for details. I went for the Chilli; very nice, and the chicken pie was very generous and... More

The pleasant friendly people who run this pub just put the icing on the cake as far as our stay in Plymouth was concerned. Three real ales on sale, nice atmosphere, the locals are interesting to chat with too. Even though we were invaders from London.(but now we are honorary janners) Good coffee too. I don't want to gush, but... More

Atmosphere and staff nice, food was somewhat below par however with fish overcooked and garlic bread seemingly cooked from frozen.

Visited this pub for a family lunch (3 generations ranging from 10 to 70!) and had a great time. Good pub food which was reasonably priced and everyone was pleased with their meals (especially the teenage boys with their burgers). Nice touches were the pile of magazines and board games and not forgetting the friendly pub dog. Staff were lovely... More
