Very chilly in the street outside (it was early April) but a lovely Sun trap in the garden at the back. We had a cream tea and the scones were superb, one plain, one fruit. Lashings of cream. Lovely tea from a pot and extra hot water, just as it should be. Friendly young staff; might be a bit old... More

There are now several dozen tea and cake cafes in plymouth. They are becoming as commonplace predictable and hackneyed as carvery roasts in unexciting pubs. The Tudor Rose was a novelty when it opened and had the huge advantage of the back garden surrounded by old buildings. The inside too had potential. But over the last couple of years it... More

Friendly staff. Cakes looked great on display, tasty tea cake with jam and butter, unusual milk jug in shape of pig, milk came out of it's mouth. Little off the beaten track but well worth finding. A cosy place

Came in for tea and cake on Friday late afternoon. Warm enough to sit out the back. An old codger was mooching around doing some garden tidying. A couple in one of the front rooms. All low key but not unpleasant. I wonder whether there will funds and enthusiasm for sensitively smartening the place up for this season?

My wife and I happened upon the Tudor Rose when looking for a breakfast. It was a first class Full English Breakfast served in a cosy room. The owner was a very personable lady. The coffee was particularly good. We had such a pleasant experience that we went back mid-afternoon for a cream tea for me and a Victoria Sponge... More

I absolutely love this place, and though I don't get to come very often, every time I do make the trip it is worth it! I've had the veggie breakfast, the cream tea (many cream teas!) and the high tea, they're all brilliant. And they serve Plymouth Tea which is really tasty :) Superb value, there are some places nowadays... More

An interesting building totally ruined by the propieters turning it in to a twee Henry the Eighth themed cafe. Can you believe an Anne Bolyne menu. I remember visiting this place a few years ago when it was a very pleasant cafe selling good quality food. On this occasion we had a simple snack ie scones . They were devoid... More
