We did not make any booking but we were lucky that the owner was very accommodative to sit a family party of seven. As we need to catch the last cliff railway at 9:00 p.m. back to Lynmouth, the owner met our timeline request and we have a really wonderful dinner . The restaurant's special dishes of mussels, fish stew... More

Read the reviews & booked for three on our last night. All three of us enjoyed our meals. We had tomato & red pepper soup to start as it was a chilly night. The mains were excellent. I had the duck confit, husband had the sea bass with mussels, and daughter had a vegetarian. Daughter had a dessert which she... More

Called in late on a Sunday for dinner as it was the only place still open. Mains were nice but desserts slightly disappointing. Unusual choice of atmospheric music.

We were very lucky to get a table without booking at this restaurant but we got there aboyt 6.30 so they had a table free. The food was excellent although a little pricey for what we had. The food everywhere in Lynton was on the pricey side -I guess that's because they have a captive audience. Well worth trying though... More

We found The Vanilla Pod on the second night of a two night break and wished we had spotted it the day before. It's a lovely small restaurant which serves great food. My husband is a fish fan and he thoroughly enjoyed a starter of Cornish sardines whilst I loved the lambs kidneys - something you don't often see in... More

Do go in and have a look at the specials menu. We regret not going here on our first day. Put simply, this was one of the best meals we have ever had. It was all handmade and cooked properly. If the owner is reading this then put the specials menu in the window!

We thought twice before visiting this restaurant, worried it may lack atmosphere. However the young waitresses are excellent, very friendly and laid back, attentive without being obtrusive. The food was delicious, lamb shank and steak both cooked perfectly. The best meal of our 3 night break and wish we'd gone there on first night, as would probably have gone back.... More

From the outside this restaurant didn't seem hugely atmospheric, however it more than compensated with the quality of food! My husband and I have very differing tastes with steak, but both were cooked to perfection and accompanied by a wonderful sales and dressing and home cooked wedges. The home made homous and dips that were part of our starter were... More
