it first night in Lynton and we came to the Vanilla Pod. Excellent prawns and sardines for starter, and the Sea Bass main course was delicious. The Mussel portion was a little small for a hungry husband, but it came with plenty of bread. The scaffolding which is currently up did not ruin the experience, but there was slightly odd... More

The Vanilla Pod is a small, charming but unpretentious restaurant in the seaside town of Lynton. Went there one wet evening and had a really first class meal. Excellently varied menu, good service, pleasant surroundings. We were amazed by the standard of the cooking. Definitely 5 Star.

We called in here when just about every other eatery was closed in Lynton during the low season. We had a lovely welcome and good food and good coffee on a wet and miserable day. Will try the bistro area for an evening meal very soon.

In Lynton for one night only, the restaurant was recommended by the hotel where we were staying. Really did not know what to expect but were absolutely delighted with the both the food and service. Will make sure we return soon.

a bit lonely out of season, but superb food and attentive, sweet service. Kidneys on toast delicious to start and a red pepper and tomato soup nearly as good as mine :0) Both steaks cooked to perfection ( after a small misunderstanding about the term "blue" ). Attentive and accurate food throughout. Great baklava for my dessert, less favourable comments... More

This is an excellent restaurant. There is an interesting choice of food both for starters and mains and our food was cooked to absolute perfection. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Even the recommended red wine was of very good quality.

We had an excellent Sunday evening meal at the Vanilla Pod and were very well looked after by the one charming waitress even though the restaurant was full so she was obviously busy. The menu is European and interestingly varied and we both agreed that our choices for both starters and mains were delicious. Two other couples came from our... More

Food OK, waiting staff lovely, manager a bit less so. On our second visit we chose the fixed price menu. It was 1915, and we asked the waitress if we could still choose from it, as the menu stated it must be ordered between 1800 and 1900. She assured us we could. We reached the dessert stage and the manager... More

We ate at the Vanilla Pod mid week (last week), the food was good but unfortunately was let down by an uninterested inattentive waiter. There were obviously staffing problems as the said waiter could be heard loudly rearranging his evening plans and whilst you can sympathise this should have been done out of earshot off his diners, he appeared bored...
