A break in shopping!

We found the pub was rather too dark and noisy with music for our liking. We were there at lunchtime, and there were very few people there. We ordered our food at our table, and the service was good and friendly. The food was just alright, really just pub food.

My other half and I were visiting for the first time, we were the first in there and it all started of rather well. We got half glasses of coke mostly ice, the lady I believe was named Kerryn had her hair down and necklace full front on show. She was dismissive and came across quite arrogant, she took our... Debbie B, looked after us so well. She was rushed of her feet, but managed to keep a smile on her face, she served, cleared tables, worked the till and even made sure we we're lol happy. She deserves promotions shehad all the St staffrking as a team. The food was lovely and very responsible. enjoyable settings too. First classis!,

Visited on a Saturday night, so obviously busy. We had been here before, so knew what to expect. You order drinks from one bar and food from another, so, if you just want a drink, at least you're not queuing behind those ordering food for the 24 strong stag party! Food is OK, just what you would expect. Reasonably priced,... More

Really enjoyable food and great atmosphere, staff were great and really friendly. Felt bad for staff as we seemed to visit on a day where they were understaffed, only two of them both serving food and taking orders. But were still extremely polite and friendly, would happily return

Chaucer's is an underground pub which is full of old pictures, collections of old bottles and other artefacts, and even a stuffed falcon. It also has a policy of not admitting any under 14s. This gives it a historical, cosy feel and ensures that it is calm and sophisticated, making it perfect for couples who want a little privacy and... More

The restaurant is interesting with old world charm. There are a lot of stairs to go down to it, so not good for some people. The food took a long time to arrive, although it was very quiet, with only a few people inside. The chips & peas were very undercooked & hard, so we could only enjoy the fish,... More

Strange entering and then going downstairs. However the vegetarian choices were good. I found the wait a bit long but the staff were great and & the mushrooms & brie en croute which came with a good supply of vegetables was superb.
