I have never eaten from the menu here, but I have returned repeatedly for a carvery. Today's was delicious with a good choice of vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. I am not a puddings person but the swans nests vast array of tempting desserts on display never fails to entice me, I love that you can see all of the... More

A birthday treat it was not. On my husbands plate the chips were dark brown, wrinkled and inedible! The bacon was so hard it shattered when you tried to cut it. The Sausages were hard and rubbery you couldn't cut them let alone try to eat one. Fried egg was hard and curled on the edge. My chips were the... More

Always pop in for a carvery when we are in the area, the staff are so friendly and welcoming they always remember us. Carvery is the best around always fresh and hot very generous portions. Was lovely sat out in the garden with a drink. The table next to us ordered off the menue, looked delish looking forward to returning... More

Enjoyed our carvery meal at this pub on the outskirts of Exeter, although some of the vegetables (the carrots and green beans) were almost cold. The yorkshire pud wasn't too edible either, haing been kept warm too long, which was surprising as we ate only half an hour after the start of the carvery. The rest of the meal was... More

Nothing to write home about. Dark brown greasy chips, luke warm scampi and tartare sauce with a thick skin on it. Other people found that if you ordered a sandwich you got a baguette and if you ordered a baguette you got a sandwich. This pub is in such a good location it really should be so much better

A huge pub with relatively few customers at lunchtime. The Palmers 200 is superb although the barman's habit of answering "no problem" to every statement is a bit annoying! The menu is interesting and I enjoyed the scallops. The bar is not manned all the time and I waited for the barman to arrive. A nice experience and specially for... More

A good carvery that has had varying levels of quality in the 20 years I've lived in the area. Currently a good standard, unfortunately the amazing setting is not best shown off by the old building with little natural light. I do not know what the planners would say, but this is a fantastic opportunity for investment and needs more/larger... More

I wish that I could be as enthusiastic about the food served at the Swans Nest as the waiter was about greeting us. However, I can't... The food was average at best with overcooked (chewy) meat, potatoes and yorkshires, and extremely bland vegetables. The pudding also was terrible as they did not bother heating up the custard before serving it... More
