Description: For a taste of the Mediterranean without leaving the West Country look no further than Exeter’s The Conservatory. With huge windows obscured by white blinds, tall exotic plants and Swedish-meets-French countryside painted furniture you almost feel it would be a shame to call in after sunset. But come in for dinner and you’ll find yourself in an intimate and romantic setting perfect for that relaxed dinner to help you forget about bills, work and worries. Sail away on a culinary cruise through Europe as the menu takes you from Britain via France and in to Italy and beyond with plenty of local ingredients to keep the flavours fresh and delicious.

This was the second time of visiting this restaurant (just to make sure the first wasn't a fluke!). My partner and I were treated with excellent service by all the staff. The food was amazing (thanks Mike and his team). The menu uses local produce and the wine is also locally sought. What an amazing restaurant in Exeter.

My partner booked a table at Tje Conservatory to celebrate my graduation. He kept it as a surprise as I had always wanted to go there, and so when I found out we were both looking forward to it very much. We turned up to the restaurant about 5 minutes before our reservation to be told that even though we... More

If you went by external appearances alone, you probably wouldn't set foot in here. But that would be a big mistake. The street - and the entrance from it - is pretty unappealing. First impressions inside are not that good either but it's worth persisting. Nobody home on first sight, but down a few steps and up some more and... More

limited menu but what a treat. The best chicken liver parfait ever tasted, melt in the mouth. Fish emphasis for main course and (very) pricey alternatives. That said excellent size portions and the best wine list seen for some time. The Sauvignon blanc melted in the mouth the same way as the parfait.. I opted for duck, my husband for... More

Friends took us for our 30th anniversary. Quirky and quaint, beautiful decor. Fab food, scallops delicious, monk fish and halibut gorgeous. Desserts were the best, lemon creme brulee with raspberry sorbet and choc tart with salted caramel ice cream wow!! Friendly staff lovely ambience will be back for sure!!

We have eaten here several times before but not for a couple of years. Unfortunately we did not enjoy this visit as much as previous ones. We went there midweek but booked a later spot than the 'early bird' diners. Service was efficient and friendly but the seating area next to the kitchen door looked a bit neglected with only... More

The Conservatory remains by some distance one of the best restaurants in central Exeter. The menu doesn't have a lot of surprises in terms of the lead element of the dish, but the food has really excellent flavours and the ancillaries - sauces, vegetables, etc - are creative and different. There's a good wine list, with an unusually large choice... More

The layout of this hidden away restaurant is a bit quirky but the menu is appetising and the food excellent. The service was good as all the staff were very attentive. It is a little pricey but worth it .

We were a party of about 25 including 2 children. We were all catered for without a prior booking which was great.

Went with my boyfriend to this lovely venue that made you feel like you were abroad in the med!! Good service and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Food was very good, we had the lamb and monkfish. Not the place to go if looking for a budget meal.
