For a taste of the Mediterranean without leaving the West Country look no further than Exeter’s The Conservatory. With huge windows obscured by white blinds, tall exotic plants and Swedish-meets-French countryside painted furniture you almost feel it would be a shame to call in after sunset. But come in for dinner and you’ll find yourself in an intimate and romantic setting perfect for that relaxed dinner to help you forget about bills, work and worries. Sail away on a culinary cruise through Europe as the menu takes you from Britain via France and in to Italy and beyond with plenty of local ingredients to keep the flavours fresh and delicious.

Food was excellent, service slightly lacking

This was our second trip to The Conservatory, the booking was for 9pm on a Saturday. Food was as good as we remembered, the Asparagus starter was delicious, shame it was close to 10pm before we were served the starters. Service for the main course was better and the food once again was top notch... read more

Quirky little restaurant. Very nicely presented and great tasting food. Good choice of fish dishes balanced up with several meat dishes and not a ridiculous price The staff were very friendly.

Had Salmon as starter followed by roast pork belly and sausage as main. My friend got pig cheek and braised beef and she loved it. Not surprisingly good for me but really like the environment and staff there. should try the seafood menu next time.

Away from all the chain restaurants, the conservatory is a little gem. It serves local fresh, tasty food in a relaxed environment.

So glad we found this place! A cute little restaurant in the centre of town. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. We had the scallops and asparagus for starters and the lamb and steak for mains. Just yummy! We had a lovely bottle of red too. Booked again straight away for our next visit... More

We were staying in the much recommended Woodbury Park hotel and arrived about 2pm and decided to try the Conservatory Bar and we were not disappointed in any way. On arrival the views from the windows and on the outdoor terrace were absolutely breathtaking of the 18 hole championship golf course and the beautiful Exe Valley beyond. The decor was... More

Looks are deceiving. This place is a fabulous cosy Restraunt. Lovely staff even better food. The starter of scallops was just divine. The beef dish was lovely followed by the lush cheese cake. All in all a very pleasant evening on a late booking on the day. Get there before 1845 and you will catch the early bird menu. Defiantly... More
