Description: For a taste of the Mediterranean without leaving the West Country look no further than Exeter’s The Conservatory. With huge windows obscured by white blinds, tall exotic plants and Swedish-meets-French countryside painted furniture you almost feel it would be a shame to call in after sunset. But come in for dinner and you’ll find yourself in an intimate and romantic setting perfect for that relaxed dinner to help you forget about bills, work and worries. Sail away on a culinary cruise through Europe as the menu takes you from Britain via France and in to Italy and beyond with plenty of local ingredients to keep the flavours fresh and delicious.

What a great place this is...very quirky looking but oozes quality. Visited here in December with a group of friends and had read previous reviews and we were not disappointed. As a vegetarian I am used to the usual offering of risotto and of course the dreaded goats cheese tart....what a breath of fresh air. The beetroot stew was to... More

Food great, had the two course 'early bird' menu, both meat and vegetarian meals very impressive, although not a huge vegetarian choice across the whole menu. The table was, however, a little too close to the kitchen and till, so a little noisy and squashed in. Also a little cold, I am guessing the atmosphere during lunchtime would be better... More

We went to the Conservatory last night for our works Christmas Party and I can't praise it enough. In the end 11 of us went but only after I called and changed the booking numerous times and the staff were extremely helpful and happy to help even tho I changed the number of people and time of the booking. They... More

My wife and I really enjoy the quality of the food here and especially enjoy the early bird offer (orders placed before 6.45pm, Monday to Thursday). No matter what you order it's always perfectly cooked and really tasty. The only issue we had on the night was that it was a little cold so take a jumper. The wine list... More

As well as saying thank you to the Conservatory Restaurant, I must first thank the people who cancelled their table at short notice, allowing us to take their place and enjoy a wonderful meal. After being told they were full, we later got a call from the restaurant saying a table had become available, so we jumped at he chance.... More

After scouring Exeter listings for somewhere for a celebratory dinner, we really weren't sure if this restaurant would live up to expectations. Happily, it exceeded them in every respect! First impressions weren't great - as others have commented, the street, in the shadow of a huge shopping centre, isn't Exeter's most charming. And what you first see through the window... More

Good food, great lunchtime menu offers and reasonable wine selection. In the city centre and easy to walk past but worth seeking out. Service always great.

I visited The Conservatory today and ordered my starter and main from the early bird menu. Both dishes were excellent (salmon tart starter and roasted hake main). The food was served fresh and warm! I finished my meal with a well presented cheese board. Good food in a setting full of character!

Booked a table at short notice whilst visiting our son studying in Exeter. The décor/ambience was imaginative - we had a great table by the Tudor panels/mirror Service was attentive and good humoured and the food was excellent. The wine selection was varied and reasonably priced - I have to say we are used to Surrey/London prices but bearing in... More

The Conservatory is not in a particularly nice part of town (although I don't claim to know Exeter very well), and is located between an Aga shop (nice) and a tattoo parlour (not so nice). However, inside the decor is extremely pleasant and the staff are enthusiastic without being obsequious or interfering. Took my daughter (another blasted student) there for... More
