This restaurant is an absolute jewell in Exeter's crown. I have eaten here several times and the food is always perfectly cooked with a fabulous wine list to accompany the spectacular delights on the plate. The last time we went I ordered the braised beef and horseradish mash and my partner had the monkfish. Both were superb and the stick toffee... More

Have wanted to eat here since it opened but never got around to booking. A bit quirky to go in through the front door and downstairs and then upstairs to the restaurant, the building is an odd shape, plain decor simple and elegant The menu I thought was also simple and I loved the fact you get potatoes and veg... We had dinner there on Saturday 19/08. We loved the food but the service was outstanding. The waitress was very attentive and we had a very pleasant evening.

Booked well in advance and pleased we had done so as it was full - including a gentlemen's dining or luncheon club called the Snails who seemed a cheery crew. Our first visit and thoroughly enjoyable - good set menu and plenty of choice elsewhere. Only minor comments are that it would make sense to provide bread as service is... More

Came here for a graduation celebration. Enjoyed some Pinot Noir sparkling wine that was fresh but not too dry. Food was really tasty and interesting. Scallops for starter came with herb crust. Lamb main was perfectly cooked with interesting vegetables. Sweets very generous portions. Wine good value. Setting bright and roomy.

We visited last night with friends as a celebration evening. We'd heard lots about this place and were looking forward to our visit. We weren't disappointed! The food was fab and the service very good - the downside for us though was that they had run out of scallops to start and only had one lab dish left..... Little bit... More

The meal here was definitely the best we have had on our week away. The combination of ingredients in each dish was inspired and the fish, in particular, was very well cooked. You have got to have a dessert though...no matter how full! While I would not wish to detract from the restaurant, do not miss the Tudor wall panels... More

This restaurant is excellent for a good meal out and the quality of the food and atmosphere are great. Just one thing the stairs are steep so its not ideal for anyone with mobility issues but as a place for a special occasion in Exeter this is probably the one.

We've been meaning to visit this restaurant after reading good reviews on here - we decided to go to celebrate a special occassion and unfortunately were quite disappointed. The restuarant from the outside doesn't look much which is fine as the inside is nice and quirky. The service to begin was good however as the restuarant got busier, we did... More

Wonderful food, fantastic service. Just a real shame that there were so few people in the restaurant to share in the experience. We had the scallops followed by the fillet steak and the plaice. Everything was hot and flavourful a fantastic meal. No room left for desert, but watching another table devour theirs was food enough!! Wine list was very... More
