A really delicious cooked breakfast - great quality ingredients cooked well. Quick and friendly service. Wide range of breakfast options available. Can only book a table if over ten people so arrived just after 9am with our fingers crossed - staff were able to find us a table for 6 by moving a few people around! Fast turnaround, though, so... We've been visiting Café Alfs for a number of years on hols to Dartmouth now and this years visit reinforced it as (still) the best cafe we've been to. The service and ordering can be a bit chaotic to a newcomer, but just stick with it and enjoy. Possibly not the place to go if you are in a hurry,... More

the local corner shop no longer commands the community spirit because we don't buy newspapers every day, and would rather shop at the out of town supermarket. That, amongst other things, is why Alf Resco and similar independent cafes are so important in bringing a sense of community. It's alternative and bohemian decor, excellent straight forward food and relaxed atmosphere... More

After reading the reviews and walking past this a few times we decided to try this interesting independent Café. This is a friendly place run by young people. The ham & cheese toastie was of good size made with tasty bread and ham. Would like to return to try the breakfast :-)

It was a wet miserable Sunday morning but Alf Rescoe's was buzzing . The place was packed and has a great atmosphere. If you want an excellent cooked breakfast this is the place to go. A lot of hotels I have stayed in could learn a lot about quality and service from Alf Frescoe's. The cooked breakfast - two fried... More

Went in here on Saturday & Sunday morning while down in Dartmouth. Fantastic breakfast with nearly everything you could want and unlimited toast. The toast is great with some of their home made award winning marmalade. They have a help yourself selection of condiments and sauces If I was being really fussy I would have loved some black pudding with... More

Just had to leave without food after waiting for more than an hour in total and over 40 minutes from ordering. Whilst it was busy there did not seem to be enough staff nor enough organisation. As we live in Dartmouth we have visited for Sunday breakfast many times because the food is consistently good and it is a shame... More
