This is our first port of call when we come to Dartmouth and we come a lot. The portion sizes are good and the fish is always cooked to perfection. Some places you go to the batter is really thick and very little fish in it but not here. My daughter is a coeliac so she can't have the batter... More

thank you for taking the time to post a review. I just wanted to let you know that we are hoping to trial gluten free batter very soon. The batter is the easy bit, but ensuring it is cooked in oil where no cross- contamination has occurred can be a challenge, Many outlets fry gluten free in the same oil... More

If you're going to have traditional fish & chips on your visit to Dartmouth, bypass the rest and head straight here. Great building, large menu and big portions, friendly staff and a great selection of local beers and wines. Hot chocolate to die for!

Freshly cooked to order. Our fish and chips today was excellent. The fish batter was also light and delicious. Worth the wait while it was cooked and served with a smile!

Thanks for your kind review. We had our faith in trip advisor shaken recently when it appeared that a terrible review had possibly been written by a long term employee of a competitor, who had not dined with us. It is proof of the time we spend in our business that we KNEW this review was fake and were able... More

We went here having walked out of another restaurant having been offered poor overpriced food. This is how it should be done, friendly bubbly staff, great food and good prices. We actually felt welcome and not just another visitor topping up the takings.

Yes cold and blustery indeed and there was the Wheelhouse looking bright and cheerful so we went in. Young staff, very happy serving you. The menu was as expected from a fish and chip cafe and takeaway - and then more than expected. Good menu choices well described and served as described. Fresh food well cooked and presented. Nice one.

We visited Wheelhouse on a blustery and cold Sunday and found it the perfect lunchtime retreat. It's light and bright with a cute nautical them (bathrooms were named 'Gulls' & 'Buoys') cosy booths in the front windows and the fish and chips was excelllent. The fish had a nice light batter and the cod was perfectly cooked and chips were... More

Popped in here over a lunchtime and had a really nice crab sandwich. The bread was nice and fresh and so was the crab. It is very informal and the staff are really friendly. They also have takeaway if you fancy having your chips by the Dart.

This was our second visit to Wheelhouse and our welcome was no less friendly. The menu isn't cluttered and what gets delivered to your table is really good. This is an unpretentious place with super staff who have always got a very warm welcome. The service is always excellent and is the only place of its type I ever visit... More

Hello, I just wanted to say "thanks" for your lovely review. It is very true that we can't offer the lure of a celebrity chef. We aren't very good at social media and we certainly don;t have a PR manager We're rubbish at blowing our own trumpet and shy away from self promotion and publicity of any kind. You won't... More
