What on earth has happened to The Cherub ? We arrived at 9.00pm on a Friday night at the height of the summer season and the place was deserted. Not a single diner upstairs and only SIX people in the pub. This place used to be heaving every night with a friendly welcome and punters jockeying for tables the moment they... More

Very surprised at the negative reviews. When staying for a few days in Dartmouth we called at The Cherub for an evening meal. The food was excellent and the service friendly and good. This was a Saturday evening but in talking to the waitress we discovered that weekdays they did a special price two for £25 steaks including wine. On... More

The last time we were here was around 17 years ago, and we remembered it as being really cosy but with great food and ambience. This time we were a little disappointed. The service is great, and the food is good (but not wonderful), but it is the decor that lets it down. A few white tablecloths and fresh flowers... More

This interesting pub resides in the oldest building in Dartmouth and is noted for its quaint lines outside and in. I wanted to sample the real ales on offer, and I wasn't disappointed with "A Proper Job" and "Otter" beers. Ross the barman was quite happy to inform me about the pub's history, including the time when it lay derelict... More

Popped into this quaint old pub the other weekend and was impressed with its character and choice of ales from local breweries, the ones I sampled were excellent, worth a visit if your in the area.

This was an interesting pub to look at and the beer (IPA) was ok. Sandwiches appeared expensive but were unavailable at three o'clock. The barman was unfriendly and we felt that we were an inconvenience to him: he was busy reading. There was only one other customer in the pub. We cannot recommend this pub to you! (Great sandwiches were... More

Having visited The Cherub today with family who are visiting, we were immensely disappointed with the poor quality of food, the prices of the food, and the rude nature of the staff. The sandwiches were £6.95 each, and quite frankly, I would've had a better sandwich from the Co-op round the corner for £1.50. My cousin and I both had... More

We took the trouble to book a table for two and were told it was busy (although it was a Monday). We arrived and as we walked in there was a most unpleasant smell in the bar. We went upstairs and were ushered to a table squashed into the corner of the room, so close to the adjacent table that... More

The Cherub is a great historical building, but the lunch was not. The food took quite a while to come out and the pub was not busy at all. When it did arrive, the temperature of the chips varied; some were cold, some warm. The people with me had hamburgers and one burnt his mouth because the patty was so... More

This is an incredibly old building, and the bar downstairs was a perfect place to stop for a quick lunch. The food was decent, and the service efficient. The upstairs dining rooms looked drab, and boring in comparison to the bar.
