We have just returned from a 7 night stay in St Mawes. We found the Victory Inn on our second night and ate there for the rest of our stay. We tried a lot of fish dishes which are absolutely delicious and also the most amazing lambs liver with horseradish mash. Just ask for salad or veg to balance the... More

An enjoyable evening. With a no cream/ butter diet I looked at the menu and thought there was a lot to chose from, unfortunately not. Very limited choice but I did not tell them in advance so I could not complain. Lovely friendly staff and nice ambience.

As usual the food was of excellent quality, but unfortunately we had to wait because of friends were allowed to jump our order. As long as you are aware of these things the food is still worth having.

Food was good, but not wonderful, the service friendly but a bit haphazard. The menu is fairly limited, but that is not a problem as there were plenty of specials to choose from. I think it would benefit from some new chairs as the ones I tried were a bit wonky.

Had Dinner there on Saturday night on arrival shown to a very small table with chairs that did not allow comfortable seating. Also not told when booking that they had a football team booked in their first floor restaurant. The pub was unable to provide service to all guest and long delays and poor service ensued

Booked a table for Sunday lunch. We arrived at 2pm after agreeing with the staff that 1pm would be busy. On arrival the pub was not particularly busy. The board outside was advertising different deals for different days. Sunday lunch one course for £6.95 or 2 courses for £10 we chose to have beef, we waited so long for the... More

The fish mains were of good quality however puddings were poor. The quite pricey Creme Brulee was composed of bought custard with a few rasberries put in. No vanilla, egg custard or caramalisation! The claim to have a sea view from the upstairs restaraunt but in truth it is 'sea glimses'.To be fair I was not charged for the creme... More

Went out for an evening meal on spec to the Victory. We ate in the upstairs restaurant area in a rather cramped area. The food was OK and the service good. We thought the overall costs, including drinks, was high and we came away uninspired. The evening lacked ambiance :0(

Our B and B hosts recommended The Victory for our first dinner in St. Mawes. The fish and crab we had for dinner were so fresh. The crab was the best I've ever had. I was told that it was Spider Crab, caught each day locally along with some other types. The spider crab is hard to clean, but so... More
