Food expensive and very average, we did not stay for dessert as we were disappointed with main meal. Restaurant very shabby and toilets not very clean, but we didn't like the fact that one of the staff had a puppy behind the bar.

The food was lovely. Strong emphasis os fish. Some interesting dishes, all very tasty. Service was good too. The decor was a bit basic and shabby. I remember it from it's old quirky nautical theme, and preferred it like that.

Brilliant food. We were a part of a large group and we didn't have any problems at all. The staff were great and the wine even better. Everyone had a wonderful time

My wife and I tried to book for an evening meal and were told it was fully booked unless we came early, which we agreed to do. However, during our meal there was only one other occupied table downstairs; we did not see many customers going upstairs either. In view of the lack of numbers, we were disappointed over the... There are not many decent eateries to choose from in St Mawes, which is a shame since the place is so pleasant and easy on the eye. The Watch House is probably about the best in the area, if you exclude the little snackery by the ferries on the quay--which does some great pastries.. The Watch House has a nice... More

We had a large Family dinner in The Watch House. The menu was varied and we all selected different dishes, all of which were very good. The fish and chips were especially good. The waitresses were excellent and couldn't do enough to makesure we were all ok. I would say that it is slightly on the pricey side but there... More

I found myself in St Mawes for a night and intended to go to the local pub for fish and chips. As I passed The Watch House it looked so inviting on a gloomy Thursday night in October that I changed my mind and I'm really glad I did. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and the mood of the restaurant... More

Although not the most expensive eatery in St Mawes, the write ups led us to believe this was something above average. Not so; my plaice was not bad (well, as the harbour is 40 feet away it should be) but my partner's steak was pretty tasteless and well below both the quality of meat we get locally in Derbyshire and...
