Great food, lovely decor, friendly service

I ate in here all three nights of my business trip last March. Was a bit worried it would be too posh (remember the restaurant as a child where you could get great banana splits), but it was high quality without being pretentious. There waitresses worked really hard, and each evening I was made to... read more

I often go to St Mawes with family, the Watchouse is usually the place of choice. Previously I have found the food ok, but rather costly for what you get. This time, I was impressed by the food and the service. I do still think it is slightly overpriced for what you get. Two bottles of Cornish sparkling wine cost... More

We stayed in St Mawes between Christmas and New Years and went to the Watch House one night early in our stay and returned again for New Years Eve and used the "Watch out" takeaway a couple of times (too convenient and tempting to miss!). The waitress was very friendly and service was quick and efficient and not too "in... More

The fish and chips here are so good that our favourite memory of four days in St Mawes is walking up the road back to our hotel eating the best ever take away fish and chips from the Watch Out, the take away beneath the Watch House. We loved St Mawes, and ate some really great food at both the... More

I am aware fish and chips always taste better at the seaside. And I did often actually get hit by waves whilst waiting for the food here. But food was one of the best I've had any where. Only ever had cod but looks like the summer menu may well be longer, as I'm sure will be the queues. Excellent.

We are currently lucky enough to be living in this very beautiful little village on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula. We have eaten regularly at The Rising Sun (pub) and the food/service there is great - so we upped our game and tried The Watch House. Unsurprisingly, given the time of year, it was very quiet. The waitress who... More

The food was lovely. However, for £12 we were expecting more from the mozzarella and winter vegetable salad. We could only count one winter vegetable and it was sparingly applied. The burger was good, cannot fault it.

Relaxed restaurant suitable for families and/or couples. The seafood curry is a must - if you like curries! Good service from attentive (not overly so) staff. Good range of dishes to suit most pallettes.

Over priced, mediocre food. Appalling service. A real shame as St Mawes is so beautiful, this restaurant lets it down.
