Good local fish restaurant

This restaurant is definitely worth booking. There is an interesting menu with lots of delicious local fish dishes. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Unless the restaurant is full, downstairs has more atmosphere that upstairs. We shared the spiced squid to start with sweet chilli sauce... read more

A lovely wedding anniversary dinner here! The meals were reasonable but high restaurant quality. Location excellent, waiting staff laid back and friendly but professional. Lovely décor and atmosphere. Will be back. Do an excellent seafood spaghetti dish which was to die for!

Food that arrived was excellent... Mussels in a curried sauce and beer battered cod and chips... Both good value for money with decent sized portions. Drinks order taken that never arrived and bread to go with the mussels that arrived half way through the meal but only after prompting of the request. It didn't appear that they were short staffed... Truly excellent dinner for four. Great food, charming service and reasonably priced. Probably the best restaurant in St Mawes.

I don't like being harsh but I tried to think of something which might improve the score. I couldn't think of a single positive. The fish was like cardboard and the batter was soggy. It also tasted like it had no seasoning. One of the family, who is a vegetarian, had some vegetables which were deep fried. This might be... More

If you fancy a quick fish and chips keep walking . There was nothing pleasant about this. I dare you to ask for gluten free . You'll get a smirk from a 20 year old who needs education on gluten intolerance. I'm sure he didn't mean it . I'm sure the restaurant must be 100% better this was just the... More

The food was superb and tasted great. However the portions on some of the food was just not enough. When you pay c£20 for a main course some basic veg is needed and you should not have to pay more for a "side". Also why cant resturants be more flexible on childrens choice. Why cant you just buy a small... More

Got off to a bad start when the (£9 for a small glass) Kir Royale I ordered came flat instead of fizzy (bottle had been open too long I guess) and I was told it was OK 'lightly sparkling'.... - however, the replacement was better - fizzy as it should be. My expensive (£22) monkfish main tasted overpoweringly of chickpeas... More

Had been recommended to go here for take out fish and chips. How very disappointing. The fish batter was greasy and tasteless, the chips were soggy even though claimed to be twice cooked. And there was no ketchup at lunchtime even though they'd opened at 12 and it was now 1.30!! There were also no pasties when they were advertised... More

Been coming to St Mawes for over 35 years. We have not been to the Watch House since they were producing knicker bocker glories some 30 years ago. Things have changed. We enjoyed our visit, but were aghast at the cost for the food. Burger without chips £17.00. It was not huge and with chips it was £20.00. My hake... More
