We pottered in here just after 10am, after some coffee and cake. There was only one table being used, the rest empty with no reserved signs. All very quiet. A waitress was behind the counter engrossed in chatting on the phone, so we continued to stroll in and look for somewhere to sit. God forbid! Said waitress rose up from... More

This has become our favourite restaurant in St Ives. The menu is always interesting, and the food is beautifully cooked and presented. The waiting staff are spot on, the location is brilliant and the prices are very reasonable (for St Ives!)- what more is there to want?

We visited Porthgwidden Beach Café on Friday for Lunch. We arrived before 12 o'clock as we know that this place is going to fill up fast. We enjoyed a relaxing drink and a lovely lunch. The service was excellent, when we first arrived the café was quiet and the staff were chatty and friendly without being intrusive. We have never... More

Just eaten at Porthgwidden, and it was just great. We had Hake with black pudding crust on mushroom risotto with artichoke puree, and for £12,95 it was amazingly good. Other meals we had ( all great) seafood paella, Moroccan crusted makerel. Nice bottle of Pinot, good coffee, oh, and salted caramel chocolate pot for pudding. Service was superb, place was... More

Four of us went for a light lunch on a Sunday in early May. It was fine: the staff were friendly and happy to chat, the room is nice, and the location is as wonderful as ever, immediately overlooking the beach. The food was good – it can sometimes be difficult to find a light lunch, but the lunch menu... More

Great, relaxed cafe with beautiful interior, overlooking a gorgeous sandy little beach. Both service and food were excellent! Will definitely be returning when we are in the area again!

We found this delightful cafe a few years ago when escaping from the crowds at St Ives. What a gem! We have visited every year since and make a point of pre-booking a table on the upper terrace overlooking the beach. The view is wonderful and the staff make you feel so relaxed and welcome. The menu is surprising -... More

As locals, our weekend often starts with breakfast at Porthgwidden. The food is terrific, staff are always warm and friendly and the view is stunning and different every time. Many visitors can miss Porthgwidden, but I would heartily recommend it as the place to start, or end, your day. However some people can use this site to be personal and rather... More
