The best just got better!

My wife and I came to the Porthminster Beach Cafe for lunch yesterday, to celebrate her birthday. We've been here many times and have never been disappointed. Having booked on the 'phone several weeks in advance we were pleased that my request for a window seat, if possible, had been granted... read more

Having dined a several good restaurants during our holiday in St Ives we were recommended the Portminster. It has without doubt a great location right on Portminster beach, and the service was very good, but the food was a little disappointing. I'm not sure if it was because we'd had two super meals at two other good seafood restaurants in... More

We enjoyed the Sweet Chilli and Tamarind Mussels, 9 x HUGE oysters (a pacific variety but locally grown), Pan Roasted Brill Troncan (which was brill, too!), organic salmon with tempura prawns and smoked monkfish liver pate (very good), bread and butter pudding and petit fours (this last came on skewers stuck into a boulder of granite!). We don't usually photograph... More

Very good food (from a limited menu) and good service on the evening we were there. Every table was taken or booked so we had to eat on the terrace. A bit chilly even with the heaters. Prices seemed a bit high but the location probably accounts for that. Also a bit out of the way.

I've dined at the Porthminster Beach Cafe several times over the years; the beach setting is stunning and the quality and choice of food is okay. The whole experience is however damaged by the indifference of the staff. I was only being able to make a reservation online because the staff don't respond to phone calls. I wanted to enquire... We had a job getting into this restaurant, so DO book in advance or you won't get a table.

We had lunch last week and loved the cafe for the reasons we have loved it for years - view, atmosphere, ambience. So much nicer than the Fifteen Cornwall we visited the same week, cool and relaxed and not the same manic noise and desperate trendiness. The Porthminster is expensive but worth it now and then for a special treat.... More

Firstly let me say I have been to the Porthminster Beach Cafe several times over the years and usually found it very good, however when we went in April we booked in advance for 2pm on a Thursday - we along with at least one other couple were kept waiting for 30 minutes before even being able to enter the... My staff and I am deeply upset in reading your comments and I honestly feel that no one who works here would have consciously ignored you and I am truly sorry if you felt this the case. I have been here at the cafe for almost 10 years and also wish to assure you that we are not trading off... More
