Just had our first carvery since Karinda and Denys have taken over as landladies. Fantastic food and beautiful dining room. Looked so profesional with the tables laid with lovely table linen and cutlery. Redecorated bar area with beautiful new carpet.Ladies toilets re done as well with lovely bright carpet. We are locals and have used the sheaf of wheat for years. Since changing management we tried their carvery again yesterday to see if it was just teething troubles a few weeks ago. ... unfortunately for us and our hard earned money it is worse. The carvery was disgusting. Dry tasteless and the cabbage concoction felt like you were eating... More

Came here for a Sunday carvery, the exterior for a start looked naff, ugly square building that looked dark and dull. And the inside was exactly the same. Not a good first impression. We weren't greeted at all when we walked in, but were rudely asked in an abrupt manner by the guy who did the carvery 'have you booked?'... More

Ate in here on Monday night. Service was poor. Bar man/waiter took our orders and then delivered food to the table and asked if everybody had their food... Even though he had only handed 6 of 8 diners their food. Clearly 2 were still waiting. Cretin! Also didn't deliver the onion rings that were on menu as coming with the... More

Sadly I can only give 1 star despite the main meal being OK and the bar staff doing their best. We got there and there was a sign on the counter saying their card reader had broken down, it must have been 'broken' for at least a month as the previous reviewer said it didn't work on his visit either.... I phoned ahead to check if early bird meal was available for that evening before 7pm. I was told that it was but when we arrived they said that they did not do the early bird menu after 2pm since new management had taken over. Previously this had been available until 7pm. I was not impressed by the new manageress.... More
