Great lunch

We had lunch here during a lovely week long stay in Port Isaac. The staff are all very friendly and the pub is very quaint and a little quirky. The food was very good and the cider ( rattler ) was equally as good and had a bite to live up to its name. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Small and quaint place with a view of the town Doc Martin lived in. Good beer and a rustic atmosphere. Restaurant upstairs and bar food (did,t eat there). Pleasant staff.

Great starter of squid cooked to perfection as was the main course fish, lovely piece of battered cod deep fried. It was just a shame that the fish was accompanied by a generous portion of frozen catering pack chips and minted mushy peas that I could not eat. A smaller portion of hand cut chips would have lifted the dish... More

Lovely old pub. Good beer. Balcony overlooking the harbour. Dog friendly. Welcoming bar staff and cosy little nooks to sit in.

Visited in July 2015. Busy at times but then you would expect this due to the location so not a criticism. A good range of beers and well priced. In our 7 night stay in Port Isaac we had dinner here on four occasions and I would highly recommend. The fish was lovely and the steak was beautiful. Just to... More

As a party of 6 including 2 young children we booked a table for an early evening meal. We were given a table in the upstairs dining room by friendly staff and as recommended, we all ordered fish and chips. We were not disappointed - the portions were large and the fish, caught locally was delicious. We strongly recommend a... More

The Golden Lion had a lot of character. And the food was good. Nice old building, near the hotel. Like the burger and the chicken sandwich.

Lovely old fashioned pub all oak beams, pictures etc. Great views if you have good weather sit out on balcony overlooking harbour. Staff friendly and helpful, all the usual pub grub but some really nice fish- we had John Dory cooked to perfection with super fresh chips. Slightly cheaper than some of the posher Port Isaac restaurants.

The menu was very adequate for our needs and good value. Sitting on the balcony with lovely views of the bay made for an enjoyable lunchtime.

A rainy day so everyone piled in to the pub which probably didn't help in assessing what a dry day could offer. The menu looked quite inviting though because it is the first hostelry in to the Port I suspect a lot of the traffic in house involved a trip to the toilet. Hopefully for the Golden Lion that this...
