Whale on a plate !!!!!

We were all hungry after travelling for over 3 hours so decided on this pub for a meal. So glad we did! Small but cosy with a roaring fire which was lovely to see in February! We were a party of 5, our meals which were burger and chips, roast belly pork and fish and chips with minted mushy peas... read more

Just got back today from a weeks break in Port Isaac with my Wife and Golden Lab. All 3 of us went to this pub 4 out of the seven nights and would have gladly done 7 out of 7 for our evening meals but did try others for a change. Open fire well decorated cosy Cornish pub. Fantastic food... More

The jewel of Port Isaac, The Golden Lion has a great pub atmosphere and best food in the village (the fish and chips were better than at Rick Steins restaurant in Padstow), we ate there on two different evenings and all three of us had different dishes each time even though they were extremely busy on both days (Reservation in... Went here in Feb for one night as we was told Port Issac was a beautiful village. So glad we came!! Even in feb, the weather wasn't great but the views were still amazing. The pub was welcoming and cozy. Free wifi. An excellent roast dinner on Sunday. A lovely pub In a perfect setting.

Recommended by the land lord of the Cornish Arms at Pendoggett as a good meal on a Sunday night. Made to feel extremely welcome on arrival and throughout. Food was excellent, starters for mains was a prudent choice after a large lunch. Beautifully prepared and presented. Finally upon asking to buy a bag of ice for our hotel room as... More

During our short break in Port Isaac, we visited The Golden Lion which has a great pub atmosphere and best selection of ales in the village. Staff and locals are very friendly. Their menu has a good selection of food to choose from at reasonable prices. Open fires were a bonus on a chilly February evening.

We thought it was just a local pub till we tried the food. The squid was excellent, huge cod and chips, moules so soft and fresh. Pub sized portions with restaurant style taste.

We ate here twice whilst staying in Port Isaac. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere welcoming with lovely open fires and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back.

At last the Golden Lion is back to being how it should be. Great food, great hospitality and great atmosphere. The new managers are right on the ball. We visited three times in our 5 day stay in Port Issac and each time it was great. Fantastic fish and chips. Fresh and a good size portion. Had that twice. If... More
