Fabulous food and excellent service

This is a small, intimate restaurant with very personal service. The chef cooks the food how she believes it should be and there is no salt/pepper on the table. Had three courses which were all amazing plus the welcome bread. No extra seasoning needed! The wine was good as well. Best meal of my... read more

First a word about Polperro, which is one of the most charming old ports imaginable. Winding streets, boutique shops and an old picturesque harbour. If you haven't been; then go. If you do go, then be sure to pre-book 'The Kitchen'. This is small restaurant run by a husband and wife team: Harry and Karen and is well worth a... More

Excellent in all respects. We had heard great things about the Kitchen and we're certainly not disappointed. In fact, we both agreed it was the best meal we had had for ages! Excellent service, absolutely delicious food and very friendly atmosphere. The only regret is we were on holiday in Polperro and not full time residents.... So it may be... More

We had a number of people recommend The Kitchen as the best place to eat in Polperro and we were not disappointed. Be sure to book in advance as there are a small number of tables, and judging by the chalk boards outside they are often fully booked. The food was high quality, and the service and friendliness was second... More

Warm welcome and wonderful food. Cornish Crab Tian and Scallops were starters we went for and were delighted with the freshness and exquisite taste. Two of us had the lamb for main courses and this equalled anything we have had in London or Edinburgh. Another had the sole which was superbly cooked and presented too. Excellent wine and sauvignon bland... More

We were made to feel most welcome at this small restaurant in the main street leading down to the harbour at Polperro. Harry runs the front of house whilst Karen does the cooking and they fulfil their roles admirably. We felt very comfortable and the food was of a high quality. The saute potatoes are the best I have ever... More

Chose this restaurant because it was No1 on here. Very pleased, small intimate restaurant serving local produce of the highest quality. Unsophisticated but excellently prepared it doesn't need to do anything else. Had scallops followed by local lamb excellent. Friendly unhurried excellent service from the owner (whose wife is the chef) Pretty good wine list, never going to be the... More

My I wife had crab starter and lamb. I had scallops and duck. All cooked to perfection, served with excellence , wine prices reasonable too. A great dinning experience anywhere, in an area where everything fresh seems deep fried. A centre of excellence.
