bar staff were friendly. Pub was busy and the new line they added seemed popular. However the food was awful and they need to employ a new chef before the season really gets underway.

good service, good value food. they coped with 70+ of our group being late due to the awful check in process at Newquay View Resort and still produced food with a smile - well done

As a local I wish this was a better review - and I wish this was a friendlier pub. It's expensive to eat here, the food isn't great (although portions are large), and the decor is very run-down (think shoes sticking to carpets) The two stars go to its location- right on the sea front - the quiz which can... Called in with the wife for a bite to eat and a couple of pints on a Monday 27th January. Friendly and chatty barmaid, pub was quiet and we sat near the fire. Enjoyed a couple of pints of ale (which were a considerable improvement on my last visit a couple of years back) and had a nice lunch. No... More

Nice setting for a Saturday afternoon pint & relax, but service without a smile (more of a sigh and a grimace) and outside tables not cleared from previous diners during our 45 minute break for a pint - not good.

Why did I bother? Sun was out, so feeling in a good mood I decided to give the Mermaid another chance... Then, I was served by the Worlds most Miserable Barmaid, (do expect to feel entirely privileged and honoured to be in her presence), is all I can say. - I thought my burger had an indistinct strange taste? Or,... More

We love the location of this restaurant. Lovely looking out onto the beach. Great to sit outside in the summer. Food has always been very good and great value. Will be visiting again

Excellent quality Sunday lunch. Book in advance as very busy in and out of season. Good views from back room of the beach.

Popped in on a windy Sunday afternoon looking for a nice Carvery. After a sarcastic barman we sat down, before getting our food, bloody hell £8.95. Food not worth £5.95 in my opinion. Shall be avoid this place next time and drive right past. Expensive over priced and the roasties were deep fried from frozen. Not a good experience
