The Mermaid is a nice pub just a few seconds walk away from the Cove Guesthouse. Nice food and atmosphere.

We spent last week in Porth, Newquay and spent several evenings in this pub. The staff were as friendly as ever, the food was wonderful and they are dog friendly which for me is always a bonus.

This place has so much potential but seems to be relying on the incredible location right on the beach. The food was very average and the service not brilliant but the thing that got to me the most was the sticky table which appeared almost to have been used for wallpapering!!! Needs a thorough clean and a better menu.

Look forward to a winter sunday carvery and although apprehensive after a few bad meals last year was bowled over by today's meal, the variety of vegetables was huge and all well seasoned, green vegetables that still have bite and flavour and a reasonably priced toddler version means it doesn't cost the earth.

Food a bit dear, Beer a bit Dear and staff a bit slow at serving at the pubs down time. Twice the staff served people first who had been served before or had eaten there, before even acknowledging others who were waiting. If there was another pub I would certainly give my custom to them.

The Mermaid Inn is a bit rough & ready.....I wasn't too keen on arrival to eat here when my husband suggested it but in the lounge bar area it was ok, it's tired and dated but the service was friendly and efficient. The food is cheap & we found it absolutely fine, tasty, nicely cooked and big portions.

Read reviews of this place and its ok ratings took us here for food as we were staying nearby. Located right on Porth beach which is nice. Some outside seating but it was slightly chilly so went inside. Inside the pub is like a throw back to the 80's, lots of wooden tables, complete with a stack of old/broken chairs... More

We ate at the Mermaid in mid September choosing the light lunch. I ordered the ham sandwich and it was absolutely wonderful! Really thick crusty whole meal bread with oodles of ham-scrummy! My partner had the jacket potato and prawns which again was piled high with prawns. The light lunch turned out to be the main meal of the day.... More
