Epic Sunday Carvery

Was a rainy, windy old Sunday not a day for the beach but if you go down to Porth then the Mermaid at the back of the beach is a great place to shelter get food and drink. We foolishly didn't book and we looked for a table the place was just about full only a few left and the... read more

Popped into Mermaid Inn during a sandstorm for a quick lunch - the staff were very friendly and the food although basic was tasty and filling. The decor although dated was in keeping with the building - the toilet was freezing though!

We arrived into Cornwall a little late after having to avoid the A30 due to flooding. After we checked into our accommodation and had a walk on the beach on a lovely January Sunday evening, we decided to go to the Mermaid for some food. Unfortunately, we missed the Sunday roasts as they stopped serving these at 3pm. We chose... More

We visited the pub for a quick drink, friendly staff and good drinks. Fair price, we did not stay for food but overall was a good place.

We have eaten here countless times over the past 8 years but sadly of late the experience has diminished. Not helped by recent refurbishment which is too cold and sterile. Used to look forward to eating here but last couple of visits have been a disappointment.

Situated right on the beach it would be ideal to sit outside in the covered area had it not been for the seasonal weather! The decor harks back to the 70s but the homemade food is very good. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Apparently the Sunday roasts are excellent.

We always pop in here after a walk on the beach. The food is good and not too expensive. They generally have a fish special which I always try (the Crab Ploughman's is MASSIVE!). The kids love it here too as they can safely play on the beach while we sit and watch :)

Only dropped in for a drink but it looked adequate for food and families. It is directly onto the beach and easy access, needless to say it would get full of sand so not elegant dining.

We visited last week to watch the fireworks and what a lovely evening we had! The bbq food was delicious and the fireworks were easily the best I've seen in the UK. My boys had a wonderful time and for a great cause too! Would highly recommend if your in the area for 5th November!!!
