Visited this pub on a recommendation on Thursday 24th July, unfortunately I have nothing to recommend about the place. Maybe the view but there are plenty of other places around with similar views! We like Cornwall and Porth beach in particular. The Mermaid is the pub on the beach, decent food and great beer. Needs a good tidy up but it's OK for what it is

Food nice, outdoor drinks on beach kids can splash and play - can wait a while for food staff not as good this year as past times

All we wanted was one peace of cucumber for our 10 month old, willing to pay for it but we were told we would have to buy a whole sandwich because the salad was all sliced in the morning. Joke is an understatement! Shame really it used yo be on here!!

Been going to the Mermaid for 20+ years as part of our holidays to Newquay every year (1 to 3 visits per year) and classed it as our local. For the first time we were very dissapointed with the food and service and can only echo the recent reviews. My wife ordered her favourite dish at the mermaid, ribs which... More

We have been to the Mermaid many times in the past and have enjoyed many winter nights sheltering from storms with a good pint after a windy walk on the beach or Porth Island. However last week we decided to pop in for a beer and evening meal and were greatly disappointed. Much of the menu was off and so... More

We were in a need for a quickish dinner - what a big mistake to come here. The food (only ploughman's lunch) took over and hour to arrive, by which time it was too chilly to sit outside. The place is definitely more for boozing after a day on the beach than enjoying a meal in peace. I agree with... More

Great food, great views, and dogs allowed inside - a real bonus for when the night air gets a bit chill later on
