Pub food is so hit and miss, but this well appointed establishment in the heart of Newquay is a little gem. Staff, our waitress was a very pleasant, warm and genuine lady who took time to walk us thru the specials and offers which had a dramatic impact on the final bill, it pays to listen Thank you Amy. Food,... More

Went for a meal tonight and Paul the cocktail manager went out of his way to make my pregnant wife a non alcoholic cocktail. Being pregnant limits what you can drink ( including soft drinks) so she was so happy for someone to take the time and effort to make her something she really wanted . He was so polite... More

We popped in on a cold dark Wednesday night in October. We weren't expecting too much as first impressions are that it is just another chain pub. However, the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the menu looked interesting, so already the experience was better than expected. The lady who served us was one of these amazing types who... More

My Husband and i visited the central on last night of our holiday and it was definately best meal that week. We opted for the 2 steaks on Hot rocks and bottle of wine for £30. Being quite fussy with my wine i checked to see what wine was and it was a Chilean sauvignon blanc. I was assured it... More

Once you get past the drinkers outside you will find a great place to eat and drink, with excellent waitress service to your table (drinks as well). Everything came with little waiting; good local beers and reasonably priced wine. There is an interesting menu and our mixed platter could not be faulted. Give it a

Been coming to Newquay for some years now but this visit to the central was disappointing, we were wondering if the 6 of us were invisible as the young barmaids only seemed interested in seeving people they knew. We left and went to Belushis & got served straight away & they were busy. Your loss Central as we wont be... More

I came here in October with my son and parents for a weekend break. I had my dog with me and needed to find somewhere that allowed dogs and under 18s. The central is a large open plan pub that has the restaurant sectioned off. Dogs can only go in the bar part of this pub but it's a nice... More

Both meals (burger and chicken skewers) were very dry and tasteless, also staff were unhelpful. The only plus for us was that they were dog and child friendly.

We love this pub. The food is gorgeous, especially steaks on stones. And they have Rattler on tap, which I was drinking by the barrel full!!

We visit here as a pre or post cinema treat during the winter months when there are less drinkers and tourists about. The food is always of a great quality and the prices are appropriate for the food being received. However, don't sit upstairs - even if the seating is full downstairs. You'll get rolled eyes and reluctant staff (who're... More
