In the end I've decided on 4 since whilst my meal was nowt special (pub burger & chips), my wife's was excellent (oven baked cod), and the kids enjoyed theirs also. Nice bright room, lots of seating, does have an ocean view though slightly spoiled by car park. Overall would recommend.

Our second visit in the past few months, I must say on the first visit, initially I was too impressed the barman was less than helpful however the other members of team were great and the food was impressive. Our second visit last weekend was great all round, the service was good and once again the food was impressive. I... More

This place is great. Serves decent pub food at reasonable prices. Nice to be able to eat somewhere in Watergate without costing the earth. Staff always friendly and accommodating. Always some fishy dish to choose from.. also a lovely woodburner to cosy up next to after a blustery walk on the beach.. cannot recommend enough.

We had visited the Phoenix earlier in the year and it was really good but for some reason when we visited later in the season it was absolutely awful and I do mean awful. I thought it was just us until I read a few reviews of the same period and now realise that something had gone terribly wrong at... More

We were two couples visiting Cornwall for a weekend. The Phoenix has been suggested us by the owner of our b&b. We were there for dinner. Food not good...for istance the chips were not fresh, maybe they put them in the microwave. Grilled fish that seems be boiled. Burger too much cooked. Personnel not friendly and long time to prepare... More

Great place for just a beer or a bite to eat, portions are enormous and the food is of a much higher standard than you would expect. Lovely outdoor area which was great due to the unexpected sunshine during our visit. Dog friendly too!

I was staying at the premises for 2 nights for a local wedding and whilst the room was very basic it was exactly what i wanted.....a base to explore and enjoy the area. They have 2 rooms that they rent out. It was £40 per night compared to £200 a night at the hotel 50 metres down the road where... More

On a Friday night when only 1 half of the pub was open and there were very few of us in there, they still managed to make us wait over 45 minutes for 2 dishes. Other people who ordered after us were served before us and when we asked where our food was the response we had was either a... More

On a very warm september day we walked to here from Newquay along the coast. After a paddle we had a drink, cider for me, tea for my partner. The service was friendly and the view from the balcony was great.

We always eat here when we come to Watergate Bay. The food is good value and the staff are always friendly. The printed menu is pretty standard fair but the specials board has some great stuff. As an example I had a trio of smoked fish today which was not only a real plateful but was delicious. And, they let... More
