Welcome to Squid Ink restaurant situated in the historic fishing port of Looe in South East Cornwall. This intimate 28 cover restaurant is chef owned and opened in July 2008. Housed within a character filled period building the decor is a fusion of contemporary and antique offering an eclectic blend of old and new.Looe is a pretty seaside town and important Cornish port selling mainly day caught fish from small trawlers, netting boats and line fishing boats, where the highest EU quality level of E (excellent) is electronically `attached' to almost every box of fish. Day boats are considered one of the more sustainable ways to fish, and they also provide the freshest fish (it hasn't been sitting on a boat that has been at sea for a week or more). We are committed to offering outstanding service our menu includes a dietary key indicating which dishes may not be suitable for allergy sufferers or those just wishing to avoid certain foods such as dairy. Stunning food, passionate service

A highlight of our honeymoon in Cornwall, made extra special with a carefully decorated table just for us, and food to die for. We hard it could be booked up early, so make sure you call ahead and book a place. It was expensive, but that is to be expected for this sort of meal. If I had to... read more

Good pre-dinner drinks. Excellent food. Lovely staff. By way of surprise to us all, as we had divulged it was my wife's birthday, the chef prepared a birthday dessert with a candle for my wife. When we started singing, 'happy birthday' the other guest diners joined in. Excellentissimo.

Staff were friendly and inviting. We made sure we had booked weeks in advance. On arrival we had drinks in the very comfortable bar area which has a log burner in one corner..... Very relaxing. My wife ordered Muscles for her main and I had the steak. Both were lovely..... The restaurant was fully boked however it wasn't over crowded.... More

We had eaten at Squid Ink when we visited Looe in the Summer and were eager to try it again. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the overall experience second to none. The owners are so friendly and welcomed us back. I had happened to mention it was our wedding anniversary and they made the occasion special... More

On a cold wet rainy bank holiday weekend, we returned for our second visit to squid ink. A year apart, our memories were confirmed by a warm welcome and excellent food. Inventive in the form of crayfish with mango and avocado starter. And although served with finesse - quality didn't overcome quantity. This wasn't the sort of dinner that left... More

Was recommended this restaurant by a friend and was not disappointed. A warm welcome, fantastic food and great value for money. My only advice would be to book early as they were fully booked most nights we were in Looe

Welcoming, relaxed and a pleasure to visit. We had an excellent meal tonight - scallops with pea puree and local hogs pudding followed by paupiette of sole then lemon curd ice cream. The meal was served beautifully, cooked to perfection and tasted delicious - what more could you ask for. It is essential to book.

Perfect ambience, excellent food and service at remarkably good prices. With a pre-dinner drink, two courses (set price) and wine £40 per head. One of the few occasions that I come across a restaurant menu from which I could have selected almost everything. Nothing more to add other than book before you visit. This place puts most London restaurants to... More
