Certificate of Excellence 2014
Dining options: Breakfast/Brunch, Reservations, Late Night
Description: Dolly’s is a tea room and wine bar in the centre of Falmouth which opened in July 2011 in one of the most beautiful rooms in town. During the day it is a traditional tea room serving illy coffee, teapigs, cream teas and cakes. It then transforms in the evening to a candlelit wine bar serving delicious tapas, wine by the glass, jug and bottle. Cocktails are served in teapots and poured into vintage teacups with ice cubes in sugar bowls. Furnished with chapel chairs and reclaimed tables it has a very relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. It is also dog friendly and Hebe, Dolly’s yellow Labrador, is a permanent fixture.

My husband and I ventured into Dolly's on the last night of our holiday and are so sorry we didn't discover it earlier in our stay! We enjoyed tapas and a cocktail named 'Flapper' served in China teacups from a pretty teapot. It was delicious .......and I wish I had the recipe for it! The atmosphere was lovely, at first,... More

A fabulous event organised by Dolly for my 55th birthday. Table was just fab and tea and sandwiches kept arriving. Very simple and clear but had a memorable effect on all involved. Best way to celebrate a birthday. The gins were an extra in the whole event!

Brilliant find. Tea rooms in the day, Gin Palace in the evening. Oasis of calm above the main street. Tea and cake lovely...range of 23 gins and growing with really knowledgeable staff.

We live in Falmouth, and it's always our number one place to go for lunch or afternoon tea. In an age of identikit high streets it's a pleasure to go somewhere with such an individual personality. The food is excellent, and always generous (my father-in-law, an Orcadian, so something of an expert on seafood!), had the best crab sandwich ever,... More

This was I think our fourth visit over the last 3 years, on our visits to Falmouth. Dolly's most recent departure, Dolly's Gin Palace, is worth a review on its own - I counted 39 gins from around the world and there is detail about each one on the list/menu - mine was made with bergamot and cardamon plus other... In the last couple of months this is now THE place to go to if you are partial to gin. The types and quality of gin are superb. The decor is fabulous; a real eclectic mix of 1940s retro, shabby chic and Georgian tea room mixed into one. The Gin 'menu' consists of approx 20 tantalising gins wonderfully described to... More

Our b & b lady does the cooking here so came highly recommended! Loved the scones & tea in vintage cups/saucers - boyfriend enjoyed his tea cake. Lovely Labrador Hebe sits under the table with her pearls on & the whole dining room is decorated shabby chic retro - cute place! Waitress Emily was very welcoming too. Owner seemed a... More

We knew it would be slightly pretentious, but unfortunately it simply cannot live up to its image in terms of quality and service. Terrible cocktails of miniscule proportions. Our afogatos came out as we were leaving having waited half an hour for them. Accordion player was good though. Take your hard earned money else where. Unless you're the type with... More

We had a fabulous evening here. We stumbled across Dolly's when looking for a place to eat. We had walked past on e! Not easy to spot as tucked away upstairs. Beautiful quirky surroundings, lovely staff and fabulous tapas. We will definitely return to sample some of the extensive Gins. Highly recommend.
