Glad we tried Samphire

We are in Falmouth a few times a year but have never actually tried this restaurant. Probably mainly because I would never choose a french restaurant. Looking at the menu in the window we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. I had the French onion soup, followed by the aubergine dish... read more

Maybe it is because this weekend was out of season, but there were several things not available on the menu, and what did come was overcooked and poorly served. We were a table of 6, and only one other table in. We left without pudding or coffee. Very average, and sadly won't be going back any time soon

I came away from eating thinking the food wasn't much better than a Weatherspoons. It was OK and that's all the starters were lovely but the main was slightly poor and the chicken was overcooked.

The bread came with rapeseed oil for dipping instead of the customary extra-virgin olive oil. For anyone who doesn't know what bread dipped in rapeseed oil tastes like, I don't advise trying it! Otherwise very average and overpriced food. Oh, and their website includes a heading for "menu's". The word 'menus' doesn't require an apostrophe!

We chose this restaurant because we had a flyer through the door for their Christmas menu. When we got there there was no other customers whereas next door had lots. However, the meal was good, I had mussels, my wife had steak and our friend had the local fish. We were going to have the Christmas menu but it wasn't... More

Starter was ok, but the main dish, pasta, came in one bowl, so over cooked and sticky, has trouble to separated the pasta with the fork, and the sauce was same as we had on bruschetta for the starter.

We had a three course meal which was absolutely delicious. It is a bistro type establishment and the food is varied from fresh fish lobster and various steaks to mention but a few. There are no on tap beers just bottled beers and a reasonably good selection of wines. This is a very well kept secret well worthy of a... More

I was surprised by the really delicious high end type food with moderate prices. I didn't realise there were seats downstairs too. All 3 courses were a treat - I don't usually have 3 courses but was intrigued to try them all. Fantastic flavours and delightful. We are going back for our book club dinner before Christmas

I'd heard some really great things about this restaurant so booked up for a small group of friends. We had a nice evening and the food was good but nothing wowed us, which is disappointing considering it is on the pricier side of eating options in Falmouth. Felt almost like some of the flavour and basics were lost in trying... More

An amazing meal from start to finish. The soup was great ,the steak cooked just how I like it, but the Crème Brulee was the best I have ever tasted, and I have tasted quite a few in my time.
