After hearing such good things about the Goshawk, I was very surprised with the low standard of my lunch. I ordered a chicken and chorizo salad which was outrageously ordinary for the price of it (£11.90)! Chicken was dry, barely any dressing, about 3 pieces of chorizo and a shed load of clumpy bland potatoes. Enjoyed a nice latte though... More

We returned to this lovely Cheshire pub for one of their special offers. Two courses from a great selection of starters. Mains or puds and a bottle of wine between two for £15 each. Great value, lovely food, excellent prompt service. What more could you ask for? We will be back before long hopefully on a fine day!

We 1st ate here. 26/06/06. part way thru the meal I collapsed and woke up 6 days later minus 80% of my stomach....With trepidation we went back earlier this year for lunch. We had an excellent lunch ( mine is tiny now) but the good lady had the regular and wow. how good it was. Above average pub food by... More

We have also frequented The Goshawk for many years, in fact we got engaged there and held our wedding reception there. Yes, standards did slip when Paul and Wayne left but we visited there last night 23/06/14 and couldn't fault the level of service or food.

We have been going to The Goshawk for a long time and the food is always excellent, the service from the bar to the table is now very poor. The last three times it has not been good. On Wednesday 18th June we waited more than 25 minutes to be served a drink at our table. This was on a... More

Sat outside on the patio overlooking the bowling green in the sun. Good service, reasonable food and nice atmosphere combined to make a very memorable evening.

We enjoyed a family meal here, the food was good, the real ale good, only 'issue' was the speed of service. Our waiter was asked to work behind the bar, so we had a 30 minute period when we had no attention. Not really a problem as I could go to the bar & queue, but a little disappointing for... More

We visited yesterday as a treat for my parents for fathers day. Overall we had a good experience but with a couple of niggles. When the main meals were served mine was a roast and they never brought over vegetables so I had to ask. Also no one came over to see if our meals were ok which is unusual... More

I'd like to say you pay for what you get, but unfortunately at the Goshawk their prices are to high and with very little on the plate, enough for me but my husband was still hungry. Also my other criticism is when I asked for tomato ketchup the waiter just plonked a bottle of Heinz tomato ketchup on the table!... More

We went here for Sunday lunch after having covered most of the real ale pubs on the Wirral. This was outstanding! Beer, food, ambiance, service and VFM all scored highly. Would definiately recommend for Sunday lunch.
