Delicious!

Visited last night with my boyfriend for the first time. Friendly and knowledgable staff. We both had the porterhouse steak with were cooked just to our liking. Both had creme brûlée which was lovely. Couldn't fault it!

Unlike many of the other expensive restaurants to be found in Chester, this one certainly leaves you feeling that you actually got value for money. The menu is a touch on the pricey side... But the quality of food and customer service does actually make you feel like you got your money's worth. The handmade butter, served with fresh baked... More

I thought this place was a lot bigger than it was, it was a really nice intimate dining experience. I really like the fact that you go upstairs and have a cocktail and choose your food, its a nice way of starting and ending dinner. The service was probably the most attentive I have experienced without being annoying, it was... More

It's all good. The steak is good. The sides are good. But I wouldn't go screaming from the rooftops about the quality of the steak. Call me tight, but 30 odd quid for a ribeye with chips and onion rings is a bit steep? Would look elsewhere before booking here again

'Upstairs At The Grill' fits in nicely with the character of Watergate Street and is full of old world charm. The restaurant was clean and well presented although the dining room and bar up stairs were small but this added to the character. The service to our party of 7 was efficient and the staff were pleasant. The steaks were... More

Went for Sunday lunch on Sunday 31st Jan with friends, two had French onion soup to start, up there with the best, one had shelled king prawns which looked fab and one had stilton soufflé which was beautiful. All had roast beef Sunday lunch which were very good. One pudding out of three a little bit of a let down... More

Visited here Wednesday evening, glad we booked as long wait if you hadn't. Offered a drinks menu upstairs in the bar, bit too complicated so it was easier to look behind the bar and discovered they sold Hendricks, winner! We chose our wine and ordered dinner then got seated downstairs. Very nice tender steaks with beautiful sauces and side dishes.... More

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime for a Birthday lunch. What a wonderful place. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food superb. Lunch for 8 people and all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The lunch time special of steak & chips went down very well, great selection of wines and cocktails! Will certainly be visiting again. Thank. You for a great time.
