We too were in the restaurant on the 23rd July and it too was hit and miss. Why they call it Upstairs at the Grill is beyond me as the restaurant is downstairs ! Our red wine was too warm. The waitress was always topping up glasses and a little too attentive really. Tables are close . Conversations are easily... More

We chose this restaurant because it was rated so highly by other Trip Advisors. It is on the ground floor. Our table was right by the kitchen door so there was lots of tooing and froing by the staff. We were were given the wrong wine and then there was a delay before we received the other bottle ordered at... More

We recently had Sunday lunch here. The food was lovely and portions generous. The service was very good, although we did have to wait for our wine. However, the biggest bugbear was having to sit so close to the couples at the next tables. Whoever was sitting on the banquette side of the table had to squeeze through a small... More

We visited the restaurant for Sunday lunch on the 13th of July. We hadn't booked, but due to our early arrival we managed to get a table. I am so glad we did, the food was amazing, the best Sunday lunch I have had in a while. We had only traveled to Chester for the day from the Midlands, but... More

We visited this restaurant on Sunday July the 13th as we were visiting Chester for a few days. My girlfriend booked the table for a birthday treat. Upon arrival we opted to go upstairs for cocktails and drinks, my glass of Bellini was £9 pound, which I thought was expensive. We then proceeded to order a bottle of white. When... More

Quite simply, this is the best restaurant in Chester. But ring ahead and book, this place is popular!

I stumbled across this place on my way to the Brasserie at the Grosvenor and though I'd give it a try. The atmosphere and service were good, but the tiger prawn starter was rather average, with the prawns being slightly overlooked. had a rump for main which I thought again was average, but the blue cheese sauce roast sweet potato... We had no reservation and were actually seated upstairs in the bar area. The area had a great ambience and the waiters and waitresses were very attentive at all times. My starter of Pate was excellent and my partner had the scallops, which she described as "Lush" We bith had the steak as a main with a side serving of... More

Surprisingly Good very good Quality ! Could make , may be, a bit more for side dishes but Meat perfectly grilled and of top quality. Would suggest the Chef and Management to contact and enter Slow Food Association. For the future ... Service gentle and attentive.

The food at this reastaurant is delicious, however, only one veggie option on the main course menu. The restaurant is very small and just one male and one female toilet in the building. No air conditioning proved quite an uncomfortable experience. Although the staff were very attentive and helpful, I found the long dialogue explaining the menu on arrival unnecessary.... More
