great music and atmosphere in the rows which compliments the decor and ambiance. A pub that you can have a drink and a dance in that links through to the courtyard.
My wife and I went to Chester for my birthday weekend. After a long day xmas shopping we were looking forward to a decent meal. I had the lamb shank, which can in a bowl covered in glutinous gravy - there was no meat at all along the length of the bone and the portion of mash it was laying... More

This was the first time myself and my husband had been to this pub and we found it most enjoyable. The food was lovely and didn't take too long to get to the table. We had never been the this pub before so we gave it a go. Good stuff, the home made cottage pie with minced lamb was very good, good service and we didn't have to wait long. Good visit good choice only please chill the Prosecco!
Everytime I visit Chester I call in here, it`s right in the centre by the ancient cross. Please note, the photo of the White Pub shown is NOT the Vic on the Watergate Row.
Staff rude and unhelpful. If you're a regular they treat you differently and a lot better. After my partner found a bug running around in her salad, they refunded the cost of her meal very reluctantly. Never again!

Very friendly staff and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We did get there fairly early on a Friday evening to eat and when we went back for another drink later on the place was heaving....
