Staying nearby we arrived on Mothering Sunday and were made to feel welcome as soon as we entered. A fabulous Sunday lunch and desert and luckily as I was not driving I was able to enjoy a good wine. We were not rushed, the chef came to our table to check all was well. We then sat by a roaring... More

Had a family meal today at the Sportsman. Roast beef was so tender and nice to see homemade Yorkshire puds. Three had the salmon parcels which were delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly and the chefs Jason and Steve popped out for a chat which was a lovely touch.

I took my girlfriend here for valentines meal. Service was good as soon as we entered. The food was really nice and well presented. She said that the salmon was the best she had ever had. Had a drink by the big log fire after the meal. I earned a few bonus points that evening:)

Very friendly pub with good food and nice service. Ate here when staying at Newton Hall and the two combined make for a very pleasant stay.

We called in here for lunch after a visit to Beeston Castle. Very good service and lovely food; I recommend the Steak & Ale Pie. My daughter enjoyed the Cheese & Onion Pie and was very impressed that a village pub had good vegetarian options. A pint of Thwaites Original Bitter hit the spot!

very welcoming friendly staff in what is,a very busy village pub. The pea and onion risotto was truly superb and the carbonara was also very good. Reasonable choice of wines to choose from. We don't normally bother with a pudding but the bread and butter pudding was exceptional. Yes it's a busy pub but for the price it was hard... More

Conveniently located in the village centre it is arguably 'the' pub of Tattenhall locals and visitors alike.

Visited here on a recent trip to Chester as we were staying nearby. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Not loads of choice on the menu I felt, but when the food came it was lovely and our portions were of a very reasonable size. Overall a very enjoyable evening
