Really nice place, would recommend. We were here in the summer, so sat outside. The staff are friendly and food good. Prices a little to the higher end, but worth it. A bee fell into my drink, and they gave me a free one without me asking - bonus! The interior is well decorated and has character... read more

Have visited Artichoke in the past for breakfast, which is always delicious. We decided to give the Sunday lunch a try on this occasion and weren't disappointed. All three courses were lovely and the Sunday deal is great value. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable recommending the perfect ale. Will definitely return for Sunday lunch again - thank you Artichoke!

Has visited a few times now and service is always fantastic. Ususally seated quickly even without a booking, and the overall atmosphere is great. Food is great but it's slightly pricey compared to it's competition. Pizza's on a Monday are excellent value and the house wine is fantastic.

A really nice place to visit with great selection of real ales and very pleasant helpful staff - close to canal just off City Road. Food looked really nice but we had already eaten so did not sample.

Popped in for Bank Holiday Monday 2 for one Pizza. As usual food, service, selection consistently good. I cannot fault them. I had a Batshit Gin which was very very nice & my partner had the Budvar which he loves.

We'd spotted Artichoke from the canal bridge and resolved to check it out. On discovering it opened for a (late) breakfast we stopped in a little after opening time and given the reasonable weather, managed to get a seat outside on the canal towpath. Service was very good - with friendly, knowledgeable staff quick to attend to us. The breakfast... More

City Road Chester has some of the best of Chester's interesting restaurants. Artichoke is one of them. It is located a few metres along the canal from the big pub under Siam Thai on City Road and round the corner from the Premier Inn hotel. We called in on a wet night and booked a table for an hour or... More

This restaurant is situated just on the canal and from the outside is very quaint and full of character however, the decor inside is a little disjointed with contemporary (uncomfortable) plastic chairs and unattractive art work crowding the walls. There is a good drinks menu with lots of different wines, ciders and beers. Breads and pizzas are freshly made in... More

Dropped in here one evening for a light bite, having eaten well for lunch. We each had a delicious Caesar salad with a glass of wine. Then we decided that a dessert would go down well. These were superbly decadent. In short an ideal place for a light bite!

Came here by chance as we usually go to Harkers on Race Day ... What a lovely building , we only popped in for a quick drink before eating elsewhere . Also great to see outside service , I must say the place had a lovely feel so much so I'm going to book for the next Races ... Can't... More
