Great food, lovely setting

4 of us ate here for Sunday lunch. Booked for 12 noon, didn't realise kitchen didn't open until 12:30pm! Food was delicious and a great selection of cakes & desserts for those with a sweet tooth. It was a nice location next to the river with outdoor seating for when the weather permits. Will... read more

A lovely canal side bar/ restaurant. The gin menu is extensive but they also make wonderful cocktails. The service is excellent and the staff very accommodating. A great place to go after dinner too.

This was our first visit to this restaurant, and we were with our son and his wife, who had been before. I have to say that the overall appearance and ambience is really good, but we found that the staff running around and not having one server is where it went wrong. We ordered drinks and the wrong wine was... More

I met 5 friends there for dinner this weekend, and embarked upon the dreaded 'dairy conversation'. This is often very long winded, includes me having to explain what dairy is, asking sure they check things like bread, and then getting dull boiled food. Our waitress said that whilst they had no dairy free menu (they do have a gluten free... More

In the few years since Artichoke opened, it has become my go-to place for pretty much all my eating-out and boozing-out needs. It's a great venue for an intimate dinner for two, just as it's a great place for late night drinks with friends, just as it's a great place for sunday lunch with the family. The staff are friendly... More

We visit Artichoke regularly with friends, workmates or sometimes as a couple (+ dog). Food is always good and you should see the selection of cakes. 2 for 1 pizza on Mondays is good value. Great location on canal.

We visited the Artichoke on Good Friday having booked a table previously. For starters I had the mixed salami starter and my partner had the confit of duck and haggis cake. For the main course I had Carved smoked ham with homemade potato croquettes, fine beans and parsley & mustard cream and my partner had Pheasant breast with artichoke mash,... More

Went in Artichoke with my partner on a busy saturday night to celebrate my 50th birthday, on spec.....Nev the manager welcomed us with open arms as always and found us a table at short notice. The food was brilliant as was the atmosphere. We have dined here at lunch-time on several occasions and it never disappoints the food is spot... More
