Great staff, lovelt place, shame about the Chef

We were resident, I wished to reserve a table in advance but was unable to do so as I didn't have a mobile number - strictly private. We did manage to get a table on two nights. My husband enjoyed his meals - especially the perfectly cooked steak. My cooked meals were all overdone to the point of... read more

we called in without a table reservation on a very busy Sunday lunch time, we were shown to a table sat by the lovely coal fire ( which was very much appreciated on a cold wet winters day). the service was very quick but not rushed, we all had Sunday's roast plenty of veg and extra gravy if desired. No... More

I met up here with a group of friends I had not seen for many years. We had plenty to catch up on so being first to arrive I chose a quiet cosy spot near the bar beside the fire. We were aware that this area was not waitress service and we'd have to order from the bar. It did... More

We regularly visit the cheshire cat when walking our dogs along the canal and the staff are usually very friendly. However this particular visit we took our 10 week old puppy in for some lunch, and we had barely sat down, my husband had not even took off his jacket when the manager came over and informed us that we... We booked a table for 14 a week in advance, it was to celebrate a 60th Birthday. When we arrived for the 8.30 booking, it was obvious that no-one was expecting us, by 9pm we were being told variously that it would be a ten minute wait a 40 minute wait a 15 minute wait. It was uncomfortable standing by... More

We ate here on Sat 9th Jan. Our table (for 4) was booked for 6.30pm and we didn't finish our meal (3 courses) until 9pm! The service was extremely SLOW! For desert 3 of our group ordered the Belgian chocolate brownie with Irish liqueur ice cream and requested vanilla ice cream instead of the liqueur. They arrived and the ice... More

Went to the Cheshire Cat last night for an early drink (6.00pm). As the time passed, we began to get peckish but not hungry enough for a full-blown meal. Decided on a light meal. My lady friend (a vegetarian) had a £5.50 starter of chargrilled Haloumi, mashed beetroot and watercress, which she enjoyed very much. I had the "pub grub"... More

We ate here on the evening of December 30th, as it was recommended by the owner of the nearby Rowton Court Hotel. We were asked to wait 5 minutes while they prepared a table,so we got a drink and sat in the bar area. I think they forgot about us, but to be fair, they had been really busy and... More
