Well worth trying

A great place to visit. Service is considerate and the standard of food very pleasing considering the price. Been there a number of times and will certainly go there again.

We had lunch in the Red Lion, choosing it by chance. It is an old building which has been very stylishly brought up to date. The service was excellent, with staff keen to give information and seemigly enjoying their jobs. The pastry on the lamb shank pie was the best I have ever tasted, and the meat fell off the... More

An appalling Mothers Day experience at the Red Lion in Chester. I am usually a lover of what this pub has to offer. Great food, great staff, beautiful interior. I received an email informing me of a great value Mothers Day menu including prosecco. After discussing with the family we decided this was what we would do. The next day,... More

We have been a couple of times now both as a couple and as part of a much larger group and have never been disappointed. The food is much much better than you would expect from your normal 'pub grub' type establishment and we rate it very highly. The staff are great, very friendly and ever so helpful and there's... We went here for lunch when Christmas shopping in Northgate Street and were glad that we did.  It's a lovely welcoming pub with brilliant staff and a nice atmosphere.  We had their lunch deal - lunch and drink for £6.  I had the fish finger sandwich and my other half had the BBQ pulled beef sandwich.  The sandwiches were lovely... I have been to this place quite a few times with my father for lunch and have never been disappointed. My husband and I have just had a Breakfast experience there (!) and it was fantastic. £10 for two full breakfasts and tea or coffee. It was beautiful, fresh, hot and served with a smile. The staff are great there... More

Ate here Friday night. Like everywhere else was very busy. The meal was great value, good food and not expensive. The waitress was great too, very chatty and friendly. The Aspall's cider was lovely too.... I liked the steak and ribs and the girlfriend enjoyed her gammon. Cannot complain at the price and the service was great.

Very good for pub food. Decent portion sizes and full of flavor. I had the lamb shank pie which was great but perhaps they should take the lamb off the bone as this was a tad awkward. Steaks were a decent size. Puddings were good although they were busy and so almost forgot to sort us out with a pudding.... More
