Great little cafe/tea shop

We only popped in for a coffee and teacake but looked on enviously at plates piled with delicious looking sandwiches, salads, coleslaw and other similar lunchtime fare. It was very busy and is obviously a popular choice. I would go back again, but possibly at a quieter time.

The food was fresh, tasty and well presented, menu just like in the Alps. Cakes were delicious and service was good. The cafe is clean with bright, charming Swiss-style decor. We went at 12.00 on a Saturday which was lucky as a queue quickly began to form, and we were not encouraged to linger. Quite pricey, but the food was... More

We had a late lunch/afternoon tea here and it was perfect. The staff were most welcoming. There was an interesting menu and we were very full by the time we left ! The food itself was divine. The cakes were lovely. Would love to go back someday. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Went for the first time today - Sunday, arrived at 11.30am, the restaurant was busy but there were a few free tables. Tables were clean, and we noticed staff tidying and clearing tables as people vacated which is always a good sign (some places look so scruffy with dirty dishes left for ages). We ordered scrambled eggs with salmon and... More

We went to Zugers for breakfast and we're delighted by the selection. The Continental breakfast actually is exactly that bread with cold meats, cheese and jam, just like in Basel. Great way to start a cold day.

We visited at lunchtime and were greeted warmly by the waitress and given a choice of tables. We were left to make our selection and the waitress took our order and returned with our drinks and cakes, it was a very efficient service. We had Key Lime Pie which was a large slice and delicious! I saw other customers eating... More

Visited on my own for some lunch, as this was not my first visit. If I want a nice lunch treat or just coffee and cake, Zugers is my first choice in Chester and I have been visiting it for years. They provide excellent service and superb food. There are excellent choices, all freshly made They have fabulous selection of... More

Visited after reading reviews here and was disappointed by poor quality food and expensive prices. Baguette was very pale and had the consistency of that part-baked supermarket bread you bake at home. Chocolate mousse was quite bland. Coffee was very good though. I found that the radio blaring out chat and news detracted from the ambience. Background music is fine... More
