Wonderful food and the wine slipped down very well!

Had a really good set course meal here recently. Food was delicious - I had Cornish mackerel followed by stone bass. We decided to go for the wine pairings which, whilst quite expensive for a 125ml glass, complemented the food perfectly. I asked for a red to go with my stone bass (yes I know some... read more

Had the tasting menu on Saturday night, the first three courses were good, scallop guinea fowl and stone bass, but they took 90 minutes to serve, we then waited 40 minutes for our next course, the waiting staff apologised 3 times so have to assume the issue lay with the kitchen, the pork was nice but a bit small even... The main was lovely but the starter was not at all as described and incredibly bland to the point where after tasting it had to be returned. My... More

Booked on the evening and then had to ring to change the time, arrived with a friend who it transpired was allergic to garlic, the team could not have been more helpful. The chef had put garlic in just about everything but was willing to make something especially for us and then as the rest of us had eaten off... More

We had friends over from Malta and wishing to do a little more than the local restaurants we went up to Chester. We stayed at Crabwall Manor Hotel - which has a spa and lovely pool and was close to Chester centre. For a different eating experience we booked Michael Caines - which over-looks the Race Course in Chester, We... More

The service and food was of a high standard and the wine we chose delicious! We enjoyed our evening and thought the restaurant lovely, we were given a table by the window. The staff were attentive in a discreet way. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

This place is well worth a visit if you want a treat in Chester. The staff are very attentive and the environment is quite unusual as it's set on the 5th floor of the hotel with views of the city. If you need a venue for a special meal then this is a great place to go!
