Not many dishes to choose from. I had a mixed starter, with small but delicious tastes of cheese, pate (wish I had had this as a starter) & cooked meats. Some elements rather odd eg grated spiced lancashire cheese & cinnamony chutney. Main course burger was ok & seemed popular, but not something I would usually have chosen. Ace chips.... More

Had lunch here with 5 friends. Our various dietary needs were so well catered for. Staff knowledgeable, friendly, attentive. Food excellent. A small restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Recently visited JB,for first time, for birthday lunch, had the prawns to start, followed by quail, could not fault food or service. Just booked for return visit. Would highly recommend you give it a try.

Fairly small intimate restaurant with good friendly attentive staff. Small but still very adequate menu. We shared a meat hors d'oeuvres plate for starters and then I had a really tasty take on a Sheperds Pie and my husband had a fish dish which was also excellent. Useful to be able to buy a carafe of wine too instead of... More

I had met up with an old university friend and we wanted somewhere to eat which served tasty food, and where we could have a chat and a catch up without having to compete with load music and crowds. This cosy restaurant was perfect. I had the pate and walnut bread starter and sea bream and crab fish cake for... More

This is the second time that I have visited in that last 2 months for Sunday lunch. They have really good quality fresh food, great portions, and very good service. I went with my husband and very picky 10 year old who really enjoyed her food both times. we had the slow roast brisket with all the trimmings, and my... More

We have been here many times and always find this restaurant one of the best in the area. The staff are always very welcoming and the atmosphere pleasant. As for the food this is always excellent particularly the Sunday lunch.

Although not one of the cheaper places to eat in town, you are assured a really good quality meal here. If you have special dietary requirements they will be able to accommodate you given advance notice. I like the way they source high quality ingredients locally which produce delicious meals. Shame they are not open on Sundays or Mondays

We have had breakfast, coffee, lunch, and evening meals here since they have opened. The service is always excellent, the food, mostly locally sourced, is always well cooked, to your liking. It is our first choice of restaurant whether dining as a couple or with friends. We recommend Joesph Benjamin to all.
