Our pearl anniversary and eldest son home so after a busy morn, decided to book for three. Friendly phone manner, and this was maintained by staff throughout on our arrival. Time was short, so all of us went for the slow cooked pork on their Sunday menu. Amazing, one of the best meals ever ( we invariably use the benchmark... More

I have not been for a meal here for some time. My wife and I went for lunch on saturday. I forgot how good it is. They use fresh local ingredients, service is good and nice atmosphere. I had fresh sardines with hariisa and chicken caesar salad. Both tested fresh and made with real food.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. Very attractive place, delicious food and attentive service. Particularly recommend the poached chicken, and for desert, the selection of local cheeses. Thoroughly recommended for lunch in Chester City centre

What a mixed result! My friend and his wife had the burger which was really excellent. I had liver which was truly awful - tough blood vessels and an over-sweet sauce, baby cabbage which was so tough it was inedible and a strange accompaniment of slow cooked beef (with liver?) which tasted like corned beef, topped with diced potato and... What a great find! We were so impressed with the food, service and wine! A great evening. Shame they are not in London as they would be so popular!

We went here for lunch with friends and we were recommended the garlic prawns by the waitress, they were exceptional, lots of garlic and flavour, slightly messy as they are still in their shell but worth the effort, looking forward to my next visit.

Friendly and popular little restaurant for the more discerning diner who prefers a less formal setting. Shop-sized, with the available space (a third of which is bar) utilised as best possible to get optimal table quantity. Not too bad in middle room of the restaurant but it looked a bit crammed at the far end. Some tables may be best... More

Following a disaster with another restaurant we were lucky to find a free table at Joseph Benjamin. What a great choice of restaurant it was too! Service was brilliant, knowledge of the menu and wines was fantastic and the food delicious! We'll definitely be returning to this great independent restaurant. Thank you for a lovely meal to help us celebrate... More

First time we'd been here for many months, so worth another review to confirm that the same high standards are being maintained. Early on a summer Saturday evening, with the sun streaming through, the ambience was delightful and the food, wine and service were to match. Starters were superb: the vegetarian antipasti is strongly recommended, and the potted shrimps were... More
