It seems that the majority of restaurants in Chester open only in the evening, and as I was looking (on the web) for an unplanned lunch I came across Joseph Benjamin as one of only very few options. So my expectations weren't unduly high ... but they should have been! As I write this, JB is ranked #13 on Trip... More

Was reccommended by a colleague at work to give this place a go and I am glad I did. Ended up here on a date with the boyfriend and it really is a underrated place. I started with the crab pate and duck egg starter whilst my boyfriend opted for the prawns (be warned, the prawns are a bit of... More

LUNCH Arrived 2:30pm, running late after long journey, famished and in need of a large carafe of wine and a decent snack. Found it to be a smallish restaurant and still very busy Hit a snag but not of the restaurant's making – we found ourselves placed next to a remarkably loud American and his lunch partners. His voice was... More

We visited for a romantic meal on a Saturday evening, the service was great. The food was amazing, in particular we both had a seafood main with king prawns, monkfish and scallops with blue gnocci and amazing coloured vegetables and a thermidor sauce (my boyfriend is not a massive fan of cheese, but he loved it too). I had confit... More

I've had lunch here twice this week and really can't fault it. Lovely waitresses, who know about the food and are enthusiastic, the place is clean and welcoming and has a good selection of top quality and freshly prepared dishes, all well presented.

Popped into Joseph Benjamin whilst on a shopping trip into Chester. We had a delightful lunch, the service was great and the food delicious. The menu was varied but limited as to not overwhelm. I would certainly recommend the burger and an american beer steam beer, yummy.

I'd avoided Joseph Benjamin, as I thought it didn't cater well to vegetarians. In fact, there are plenty of options available, and both my starter and main were delicious. Although the wine was expensive, you certainly get what you pay for - we had a beautiful sangiovese that was at the perfect temperature. I've read complaints of the service, but... More
