We had been coming to the sandstone a few times in the past six months. When we first visited, we thought we've found the best country pub around Chester. The food was beautiful presented and as delicious as it could be. Without a doubt, it became our favourite place to dine. It's also right next to the sandstone trail and... More

Recently ate at the Sandstone after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. It did not disappoint!! Good selection of real ales, and a good variety of menu choices, from traditional pub food, to more gastro pub offerings. My wife and I shared a mezze platter to begin with, which was excellent, especially a spicy Harissa dip. We both chose the fish... More

I have driven past this pub and never stopped so on a Sunday early evening we stopped for dinner. Clean, friendly pub. Food was very good and didn't have to wait too long. My daughter ate off the children's menu which was good and was busy reading books, colouring etc which the pub had aside for kids. Would definitely go... More

Came here after reading the great reviews on trip advisor and we weren't dissapointed. The meal was faultless, best food we have eaten in a long time and we eat out a lot. Beautiful presentation and exceptional quality food, really good portion sizes too. Staff friendly and attentive, would highly recommend and will be returning soon.

Thanks to the Good Beer Guide I went out of my way to find this gem which is just east of the Broxton junction on the A.41 about seven miles south of Chester.Beer was magnificent with a pint of Salopian Hop Twister (£3.30) from Shrewsbury.A finer example of how to keep and serve the best of British beer you could... Came here with my girlfriend last week. Had a great meal. I went for the Seabass, something I'd recommend. My girlfriend had the Chicken Ceasar Salad, again fantastic. Our waitress, think her name was Julie, made us feel very welcome and helped with any questions. Will definitely be visiting again.

The service was great and the food was fantastic. I had pate and my partner had chilli with homemade tortillas for our starters, both were delicious and clearly home made. For our main course I had duck breast and my partner had the stake and ale pie,and I was told this one of there signature dishes and I could see why!... More

This was our first visit to the Sandstone on the way back from a spring morning drive but it will definitely not be our last! Nestled in a lovely setting within the Cheshire Hills, we had friendly, attentive service and beautiful food. The steak and ale pie with homemade chunky chips and garden peas hit the spot perfectly- the pastry... More
