Though the name might conjure up images of dancing mussels, Chester’s Moules A Go-Go is a class act. Focusing on modern European-style cuisine, the restaurant is done up in rich, continental-style woods giving it a contemporary yet relaxed feel. Steak frites, fresh fish and rotisserie cooked meats all grace the a la carte menu, but you’d be foolish to miss some of the freshest mussels this side of the ocean. Brought fresh from the Anglesey cost, they’re freshly steamed in one of four ways: classique, mariniere, chorizo or green Thai cury. Friday and Saturday’s also sees the popular grilled lobster meals in, and a surf and turf with a rib eye steak and 1/2 a grilled lobster is a steal at £15.95.

Excellent mussels and very pleasant ambience

Unsurprisingly, we went here for the mussels and they are excellent, with a wide variety of different cooking sauces. Crab starters were good, though could have been seasoned a bit more. Service excellent - attentive without being over fussy and nothing was too much trouble - including locating sea... read more

We ate here on Saturday lunchtime as we were in Chester to celebrate my husband's birthday. All four of us had the set lunch and had the soup, ham hock terrine and smoked mackerel pate for starters. Everything was delicious. We the all had the classic mussels with chips and a side order of b read to mop up the... More

My wife and I recently visited for Sunday lunch. This was our second visit. We were very impressed on our first visit, primarily by the outstanding quality of the mussels and the flavours that were gotten into them. We live over three hours away, but a decent kilo of mussels is hard to come by in this country, so its... More

When resident in Chester this Belgique restaurant was our regular eating and meeting venue. Booking was and still is always essential. The menu is always a good read, fantastic choice and the moules obviously are just to die for, really scrummy. As ever it was very busy in the early evening with what appeared to be an office party going... More

Moules is always a safe place to go with friends who are visiting. The menu is appetising, the surroundings are relaxing, the staff are pleasant and the meals are good value. I don't imagine anyone was ever sacked for organising a work party at Moules a Go Go, unless they forgot to invite the boss!

We were looking forward to going here as we both love mussels. We initially attempted to visit on the Thursday night but when we arrived an hour before the closing time, we were told that they were closing as they had had a quiet night. So we tried the following night and got in. And the food was OK, I... More

Located at the top end of city passed town hall towards fountain roundabout. Great food and quite busy due to free bottle of wine on Tuesdays. Service was swift despite busy time and staff very pleasant. Prices very competitive, book ahead!!

Went for Mother's Day with the family. Nice touch to leave out pictures and crayons for the little ones. We booked for 2 but the table wasn't ready and had to wait to be seated till 2.30. We were a bit surprised there was no Moule frite dish on the main given the venue but otherwise the food was ok.... More
