Very clever strategy by owners to attract custom by offering 2 courses for £15.39. The only problem was that there was a pathetic choice for this offer as the usual fayre you'd go for was supplemented to death. For example, my stunning better half had scallops (1sliced into 3 small pieces) served with Iceland chorizo croquets. £6 supplement? Rock on!... More

Was pleasant surroundings and good service food mediocre and price was fell into fine dining category which out of race days they could afford to try a little bit more to attract more diners.

Had a two course menu which was excellent and also good value. The lamb main course in particular was extremely good. The restaurant itself is well decorated and has a glass front which overlooks the Chester racecourse which is a good touch.

Went last Saturday on a recommendation from a friend and was well impressed. So much so we have booked again. Set menu of 2 courses for £15.95 I think, good choice from each course and I would gladly have had any of the choices available and I am picky. Staff very welcoming, could not do enough, always smiling and even... More

This restaurant was one of our favourite places for lunch in Chester but on our last visit we felt it was not as good as it used to be. We had the Christmas meal. Although generally the food was nicely presented the soup was served with just one half slice of very dry bread with no butter and the chicken... More

Had a superb Sunday lunch today at 1539. Food was excellent, portion size just right, had 2 courses and felt full but not uncomfortable. Service was excellent . Will definitely return.

We came here for Sunday lunch. Very limited menu, tiny portions , my main ( vegetarian one option) was burnt. Witnessed a staff row whilst waiting for our table, went on for several minutes, very unprofessional , unimpressed , felt like an airport lounge feel
