We stayed in Chester for three nights and called into this pub twice. Their food is quality and tasty and well recommended. There is plenty going on each night of the week. The building is old and beautiful.

This pub, which does excellent food is very old and the building dates back to 1644. We liked it so much we went twice during our stay in Chester. They have a good choice of beers and ciders plus bottles of most things you can think of. There is a small courtyard at the rear with seating but no view... More

We met friends here for lunch after seeing great reviews online. The beers were great but the fish and chips left a lot to be desired. The fish had a light coating of batter but the flavor was lacking. The chips were just OK.

A nice walk from the town centre, away from the crowds, lovely little pub with gracious and helpful staff. My son didn't see pulled pork sandwich on the menu although it was an ingredient in some items. No problem! He was served a scrumptious sandwich while I ate the beer batter fish and chips--beer batter is the only way to... More

Sunday lunch, England's favourite meal cocked up by laziness and ineptness in the kitchen. The roast beef had been broiled and it was the texture and taste of soggy blotting paper the 2 roast potatoes were cannonball hard the was other stuff on my plate that were hard to describe and discern from each other. Over all I'd give the... More

Located just slightly up the road from the riverside, this pub is an excellent place to sit and relax after a nice walk around the city walls or during/after a hard days shopping. We visited the Bear and Billet on a Monday afternoon in July. The pub is beautifully kept, with a lovely atmosphere, comfy chairs, lovely polished tables (open... More
