Description: Food is at the heart of The Farmhouse, with award-winning cuisine served throughout the day in a choice of areas. The bar and lounge are popular throughout the year for coffee and casual dining, whilst our restaurant provides an ambient setting complete with an open log fire. 'The Courtyard' is large, light and airy, spilling out onto the poolside terrace where you can dine al fresco in summer overlooking our mature gardens and the surrounding countryside with a variety of mouth-watering menus. A choice of private dining rooms is also available as well as two gazebos for informal gatherings looking to wine and dine outdoors. We combine British and Continental cuisine with the odd dish from further afield to create diverse and imaginative menus that incorporate organic and Fairtrade products wherever possible. Our aim is to cater for all palates, from fine dining to something a little less formal, so forget all your preconceptions about hotel restaurants. It's about the food, the drinks, the company and maybe just occasionally 'one too many' on a school night.

Have had lunch here several times, and the service and food have been consistently good. On this occasion the children's menu gave a couple of surprises. A 'cottage pie' turned out to be nothing of the sort - just some unappetising-looking brown stuff (presumably meat) with a separate pile of mashed potato. Our child who ordered it could not eat... We were out walking from St Peter Port and only stopped for a coffee. On enquiring if coffee was still being served - it was noon- we were told we could have coffee whenever we wanted and were shown to a poolside table by a charming waitress. I ordered hot chocolate which was simply divine and I am something of... More

We were not staying at the hotel so cannot of course comment on that. We were passing and stopped here for a very simple cup of tea and buttered scone. The latter tasted quite dreadful and had to be washed down with the former. Ridiculously overpriced too. Plans to have dinner at the hotel in the evening had to be... More

Three of us enjoyed a leisurely lunch here yesterday sitting by the pool. Wonderful. The tomato juice was the best ever ( this may sound an odd comment but I drink it a lot! ). My friend had a wonderful steak with simple salad and we had fish and chips which was great although the chips weren't good; chunky and... More

The welcome and service were very good. The staff seem to be recruited from the United States of (Eastern) Europe. Live music was on offer to accompany Sunday lunch - nice and unobtrusive. The soup was okay but otherwise unremarkable. The main course of roast beef with veg, duck fat roasted potatoes and nice crunchy veg was first class. It... More

We went with a group of 16 fellow car enthusiasts to the restaurant, but the staff could not get the food orders right and the prices for some of the drinks bordered on the ridiculous. For example, their 'de-constructed' chicken pie was chicken stew with pastry sat beside it and one of our group was given plain rice rather than... More

Having heard rave reviews we decided to treat ourselves on fathers day. I ordered the pea soup which was tepid dish water. My main course was a piece of seabass(label still on!) on a bed of gloopy risotto. Side veggies cold and courgettes bitter. The reason I hv bothered to give it a 1 star is the service which was the... More

I was taken to the farmhouse restaurant whilst in Guernsey on business ,visited last Monday for lunch , terrific location . the starter of rabbit saddle , rillettes or both rabbit and duck were excellent , the saddle cooked sous vide moist and tender. we had a main course of veal chops simply pan fried with pommes purée and fine... We went to the Farmhouse for lunch and had a fantastic meal from their set menu. The service was a little overbearing initially with the waiters pushing us for wine at least 4 times - However after this very small issue at the start, everything panned out beautifully and we had a very leisurely lunch in this lovely restaurant. A... More
