STOP PRESS... We are proud to announce we have received 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence. Having initially trained at the White Pheasant in 2005, Head Chef Calvin Holland went on to cook at some of the UK's finest multi-rosette & Michelin Star restaurants, only to return to the White Pheasant in August this year as Head Chef and Proprietor. With an emphasis on locally sourced produce alongside award winning wines, this family owned restaurant offers everything from light lunches or a traditional Sunday lunch to the finest A La Carte menu. The epitome of country dining, boasting a beautiful open fire and weathered floorboards, the Pheasant is now taking bookings for Christmas parties with a special menu of exquisite dishes designed for the winter months such as braised cheek of Hereford beef or a Ballotine of Gressingham duck. Menu's & wine lists are all available on line.

Excellent food in relaxing surroundings

Have been several times and it has always been very good. The food is excellent - well prepared and presented. The service is friendly but informed. The taster menu with an accompanying flight of wines is expensive but good value - ideal for a celebration.

Used a travelzoo voucher for a five course taster menu at this restaurant. The food was outstanding. Although the portions are quite small you end up feeling pleasantly full at the end of your meal. Really interesting combinations of food. The horse radish ice cream with the salmon mousse was excellent. Wine was reasonably priced and the service was very... More

We booked a 5 course taster meal through Travelzoo and were not disappointed. The meal ended up being a 6 course taster and was excellent value at full price. The whole experience was superb from the food to the ambience and the staff. We will definitely be returning.

We had the taster menu which was great value for five courses. Would have liked to have sampled the flight of wine but we had to drive home. Each course was beautifully presented and flavours to compare.Excellent will definitely visit again staff were very attentive and helpful.

Have just had a Light Bite Lunch at The White Pheasant today. It wasn't busy so it was very comfortable, and with very subtle music playing in the background it was also very peaceful. We (3 of us) all plumped for the Fish & Chips at £14.00 per head. We ordered drinks and tap water which was served in an... More

From the sheer enthusiasm and welcoming, unfussy nature of the staff, you know you'll have a great time. Just opt for the tasting menu with matched wines. Abandon caution and put yourself in the hands of the staff; they know what they are doing. Great food and perfectly matched wines; wines that were an eye-opener to me (I'll even look... More

Wonderful restaurant, friendly, polite and attentive staff, and the food was amazing! Even with two young children in our party didn't phase them a bit :) Being able to watch your dishes prepared via close curcuit TV was a real treat. The atmosphere was very homey and relaxing, yet we were very well taken care of by the staff. Cudos... More

We dropped in to the White Pheasant (Fordham, rather than Ely) for a Sunday lunch. Service was good and very welcoming. The food was very good. This is Bistro style, not hearty fare so the accent is on quality, not quantity. We very much enjoyed the trip but thought perhaps it was just a little pricey considering the portion sizes.

Main course was inadequate - hardly anything on the plate. Definitely wouldn't go there again. However, dessert was OK and certainly the highlight of the experience. Staff were rather remote and not particularly friendly but we were the only groupeating. It was fortunate that no-one came along to ask if everything was alright!! Avoid this restaurant if you want an... More
