Having initially trained at the White Pheasant in 2005, Head Chef Calvin Holland went on to cook at some of the UK's finest multi-rosette & Michelin Star restaurants, only to return to the White Pheasant in August this year as Head Chef and Proprietor. With an emphasis on locally sourced produce alongside award winning wines, this family owned restaurant offers everything from light lunches or a traditional Sunday lunch to the finest A La Carte menu. The epitome of country dining, boasting a beautiful open fire and weathered floorboards, the Pheasant is now taking bookings for Christmas parties with a special menu of exquisite dishes designed for the winter months such as braised cheek of Hereford beef or a Ballotine of Gressingham duck. The food is very well presented and cooked with precision and care. The service is friendly and unobtrusive. Will certainly be using this restaurant regularly.

We found this place using the AA pub finder app whilst having a few days away in Suffolk and we were blown away by it! The food and service were both exceptional. Every mouthful was followed by a 'wow!' and you must leave room for dessert. The manager made us feel very welcome and clearly a lot of care is... More

Having lived in the area for 2 years I thought it time I tried this gastro pub. The boards outside proclaimed it was an award winning venue. Maybe I arrived on a bad day. My first impressions were extremely favourable. It looked warm and welcoming and the legend on the wall proclaiming that 'people arrive as guests and leave as... More

Dear Paprikathecotswolds. I was saddened to read your recent review of our restaurant there's several points I'd like to address, after speaking to all the staff on duty that particular day. Your headline "pretentious", definition "attempting to impress by affecting greater importance or merit than is actually possessed". We do possess 2AA rosettes for culinary excellence awarded to us by... More

Being local in the area, and a bit of a foodie, we had heard some good comments about The White Pheasant. However I was happy with our local restaurant and initially reluctant to give The White Pheasant a try. However after being nagged by the misses, and meeting the chef, Calvin, at a Charity dinner, I thought we would give... More

Wow! A truely unforgettable dining experience! I booked this when we couldn't get a table at our favourite restauraunt in Mildenhall. I had nothing to go on but the reviews listed on Trip Advisor; most of which are very positive. I can honestly say, thodse reviews were spot on...and then some! I can't fault a thing about our meal or... More

Visited the much acclaimed white pheasant tonight with my fiancée . Very warm welcome from the French maître d . Sat down and from then on were treated impeccably. The chef Calvin even came out to say hello. We went for the chefs taster menu which is a chance for the chefs to show off and boy did they live... More

The food really is something special here, cooked to perfection, well balanced flavours with little exciting touches to tickle the tastebuds. The service is excellent as well, very friendly and attentive. We had 3 courses and wine and it only came to £70. We've happily paid a lot more than that for less exciting meals elsewhere. Already can't wait to... More

From the welcome to the bill settling everything at The White Pheasant was top notch. The presentation and execution of excellent quality ingredients in all the courses was superb. The service was efficient and respectfully friendly. Could not fault a thing, particularly at the hands of a 25 year old, cooking like a man of far more maturity.
