We had travelled a long way and stopped, with our dog Lottie, for lunch. We are always happy to take the dog to the garden but this time we did not need to. Our dog was welcome in the bar, with water provided as well as a warm welcome. If you prefer dog free then the restaurant is well laid... More

This was my first time visiting the Maid's Head pub and I was greeted with a very warm welcome. The staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic. The pub is a very nice size and has a lovely restaurant area with a great fire that adds warmth and a cosy atmosphere. All in all, I am very pleased... More

This was my first time going to The Maids Head. I found the atmosphere to be very welcoming, happy to let in dogs and is kept to a very good standard of cleanliness. Additionally, the menu is good and varied. The pub does an amazing job as the food is locally sourced, I found the meat from Spinny Abbey Farm... More

Three of us recently dined at the Maid's Head and enjoyed it very much. The welcome, service, imaginative food and prices were all good. 3 courses, a bottle of wine and coffee all for about £25 per head. Ignore early reports as under new management since September. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

I travel past the Maids Head (not in Ely but in Wicken, 6 miles to the south) quite often during the summer, and calling in for lunch or dinner is an experience I always happily anticipate. The building is a chocolate box picture from the outside, and the inside doesn't disappoint either. It's warm and feels cosy without being cramped.... More

We have been to the Maid's Head six or seven times in the last couple of years and have always had a lovely meal. We went with two friends earlier this week (23 Jan 14) and again had a really enjoyable evening. It's a cosy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and a gorgeous open fire in winter. The food was... We eat here regularly. The food is excellent and with the specials there is plenty of variety. My favourite has got to be the ribs. Loads of meat which just falls off the bone. The staff are really friendly and always ready to make recommendations.

Enjoyed lunch with friends. Food very good. Had early booking so quiet. No music. Bliss. Waitress patient, friendly and helpful. Real log fire and real ales. We took more than 2hours over a very relaxing lunch finishing with coffee and mints. (Ok they weren't busy) Excellent value with discount voucher. Will go back at full price!

A very nice pub, super staff nothing to much trouble. Lovely food with generous helpings. A little out of the way but well worth the drive and Ely is not very far away.

We were greeted politely and shown to pleasant corner table. Waitress didn't know strengths of beers. Drinks fine. Order taken and food arrived in due course. I pointed out that the menu specified potatoes and salad with my halibut but no salad served. Waitress didn't seem to understand. I thought piece of halibut was rather small compared with the portion... More
