Birthday meal for my vegetarian and gluten free wife

As paid up members of the National Trust we have been to wicken fen many times and always remarked that we should try the pub nearby. I checked the menu and found not only a lot of vegetarian options but they actually had an entire gluten free menu. This is the first time I have come across this... read more

Have visited this pub/restaurant in the past and had a good meals, so was very surprised to get a very substandard meal, ordered 3 sirloin steaks of which 2 were very tough and gristly, also ordered home made fish and chips and after eating a mouthful that didn't taste good I realized from the smell that the fish was actually... The food is great, service excellent and the menu really does have something for everyone. Its a lovely pub, full of character, with a lovely garden and benches out the front on the green. Lovely place to sit and have a drink on a summers evening. Its dog friendly and the landlord & lady are really accommodating. Ignore the reviews... More

Good food, reasonably priced with attentive service in a nice atmosphere/location. Would definitely go again, and highly reccomend.

As a family we were there on a Friday at 8pm we were treated like a nuisance our children were colouring in the bar area and we were told to keep it down when they made barely any noise. It's a shame as its local to us and now there has been a poor man attacked numerous of occasions I... More

I can assure all our customers that we are a very much a child friendly restaurant. We offer a childs menu, toys for the children to play with, activity sheets and crayons. Children are most welcome in our restaurant and we receive many compliments on how child friendly we are. The bar area on a Saturday evening at 8pm is... More

My wife and I had meal here on two nights. Good service by staff and food was tasty and hot. Friendly atmosphere, although poor selection of real ales!

Thank you for your kind words about our food service, I am sorry you found our selection of real ales limited but we do not have the space to add more, as much as we would like to. More

Had another lovely meal at Maids Head last night . The specials menu changes regularly & I have never had a bad meal here. The crumble is tasty with an oaty topping, not at all stodgy. My favourite place to eat at present.

This was my second visit to Maids Head and again I was not disappointed. Staff efficient and friend. Excellent choice of menu whether you want just a light bite or a main lunch. We choose from the main lunch menu and found the food beautifully cooked and well presented. There is an open log fire in the restaurant which I... More

My husband and I visited here with our dog on a mini honeymoon, we were on our way to Wicken Fen nature Reserve and thought it looked picturesque when driving past so decided to stop. We took our dog and sat in the rear garden, we were all made to feel welcome. We shared a starter platter and then I... More
