The New Vaults is a snack and cocktail bar nestled under the streets of Central Cambridge. After 15 years in the same place, the venue was bough in 2014 by two young entrepreneurs from London, who since then have set about updating the venue, and a turning it around.

It has been redecorated throughout, and now features warm lighting, comfy sofas, and even backgammon tables and ping pong.

The Vaults has always been famous for it's cocktails, and nothing has changed here. The menu is short and focused, but the skilled bar tenders are more than happy to make you anything you can't see, or even create you a custom creation.

Alongside the cocktails are the beers, wines and ciders. There are 8 different types of beers on offer, which often change, but always include a variety of pale ales, lagers and even a few wheat beers.

The food now comes in the form of Gourmet Hot Dogs. The team offer up such creations as The Umami (Smoked Sausage, Tomato Salsa, Olive Oil & Garlic Chives) and the Fat Cat (Frankfurter, Diced Gherkins, Blow Torched Cheese on Ciabatta), all of which have been named after the different venues from around the world that have inspired them. Sides such as Sweet Potato Fries, or Skinny Rosemary Chips tie it all together.

Open from 5pm on Weekdays and 12 noon on the Weekends, it's a great place to take the weight of your feet, try something new, and meet friends.

There are also a few rooms available for private hire, perfect for events and birthday parties.

Great Birthday Event

Although there was some confusion about layout of the room before the event began, in the end this was all worked out and the room looked great. The staff ensured everything ran smoothly - especially our bartender for the night, Robin. Overall a lovely venue in a brilliant central location!

Went with a big group of friends (20 people). It used to be a very good restaurant and a great bar (one of my favourite in fact). Since the restructure of the place they only serve snacks and the quality of cocktails worsen significantly. The current ordering system is a mess, slow service, they forgot or brought over wrong drinks/food.... More

I went here with my boyfriend for a drink one evening when he had finished work at a pub (around 11pm). We would aways go in before it got taken over and it was excellent. It was table service however no one was there to greet you and show you to a table. The staff were not welcoming or friendly... More

I went to The Vaults recently for a not-quite-a-hen-do-hen-do-type-thing and it was fab! I emailed a week or so before and reserved a table, which was very easy to do. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we never had to wait for service, despite being a busy night. The cocktails were lovely and the 2 for 1 offer... More

My husband and I popped in for a drink whilst out shopping and enjoyed some lovely and refreshing cocktails - the apple green japenese gin one was amazing! Can't believe there is a mini distillery in there where you can mix up your own gin flavours! All staff were really helpful and service was good. Was nice to have table... More

We booked the side room for a leaving party and it was a great evening. The casual vibe provided the perfect atmosphere. The cocktails were delicious, the barman Robin did a brilliant job, the espresso martinis and gin basil smashes were particularly good! Everyone enjoyed the food...who knew hotdogs and cocktails go so well together!

Went there with a couple for friends, for a quick snack and a couple of drinks. The HotDogs are delicious and nice range of them. tHe cocktails are made on a high level for a good price!

My boyfriend and I decided to go to The Vaults for a leaving do with our friends as we are moving to Australia. The correspondence I had with Kate was incredible - she was so friendly and she happily answered all of my (annoying) questions with ease. She definitely went the extra mile to make sure we had everything prepared... More
