Midsummer eats Le Gavroche for breakfast

Having now been to both Le Gavroche and Midsummer, my wife and I both agree that Midsummer absolutely beats the pants off the pretenders in Mayfair which we found to be stuffy and old fashioned. The only aspect on a par with Midsummer was the excellent staff. Setting, decor, food visually and... read more

We really enjoyed pur time at Midsummer House and would give it a 4.5 it would have been higher for a few disappointing factors. We arrived, no-one greeted us, we hung our own coats up, we were then greeted and asked for our reservation details, and pointed to the name in the book. We were exactly on time but asked... More

I love my food and this place is out of my price range on a regular basis. However, I was looking for a place to take my girlfriend that had a decent veggie menu. I looked at their menu then the price and considered it for a few days. It was by far the best Valentine's day (but not actually... More

To say we simply had lunch at Midsummer House is underselling it - this is not just lunch, it is an 'EVENT'. Our time at Midsummer House yesterday was simply outstanding; we had the 7 course tasting menu with wine flight and each course was beautifully executed, from the tiny amuse bouche of Bloody Mary foam and celery sorbet with... I had asked the restaurant to bring my husband champagne and to wish him a happy birthday,(they even checked I was happy to pay for it, of course I was) they told me they usually put a candle in the dessert, I said please don't do that he would be embarrassed. They took the champagne to everbodys table, never wished... More

We had the 7 course lunch, but it was more like 15 courses with all the extras. The champagne at the start was amazing, the staff were all outstanding, food quality best in the world!!! The chocolate box all homemade were better than any we have had before.

The food was delicious! I don't recall all the dishes (which I usually do...) however the scallop was legendary! The service was a bit off in the end - we did not get the wine before our dessert was served. And it's a bit difficult to wait for too long for the wine when the dessert is ice cream. Also... More

My lovely husband took me here for our wedding anniversary - it is somewhere I have wanted to visit for a while, and it did not disappoint! We had the 10 course taster menu and had starved all day - this is an absolute necessity; having seen the cheeses I wished I had gone for the lesser course taster menu... More

Having watched Master Chef avidly we were better able to appreciate this beautiful restaurant food. Truly 2 Michelin stars and a reasonable price for an exquist lunch. It was my daughters wedding day so worth every penny. Staff were faultless.

We went to Midsummer House with two friends who live in Cambridge. They have been to Midsummer House before and raved about it. I have to say, we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, it was a great experience. We chose the seven course menu with matching wine ( one of which was... More
