I reviewed the restaurant several weeks ago and it was superb. We decided to hold our ruby wedding anniversary here. The experience was even better. The private dining room is upstairs. The room is beautiful. It was a lovely day in July and we had the outside terrace overlooking the river. All of our guests commented that the setting was... More

I'm a bit of a foodie. I've eaten in a countless 1 stars, a number of 2 stars and a couple of 3's This ranks as one of the top three meals I've ever eaten - and probably the best in England. We walked across midsummer common with our umbrellas up (well, it was october) and worked up an appetite.... More

For my birthday in May I booked to eat here, been wanting too for some time but parking in Cambridge put me off. Easy parking on a Wednesday on the opposite side of the river. A very friendly greeting on arrival and ushered to seats although I chose to go upstairs and overlook the river. Drinks arrived via pleasant waiter... More

We went to this restaurant for lunch as part of a retirement gift for my husband which included a private guided tour of Cambridge in the morning. It's a very unassuming place from the outside but very nicely designed inside. The service was excellent and the food was terrific. We particularly liked all of the appetisers. The food was beautifully... More

Classic Michelin type food and service. Lovely location with subdued decor and a lovely tiny garden made for a blissful summer evening. Friendly service and an interesting menu with the only choice being 7 or 10 courses. A generous selection of amuses bouche were presented and enjoyed. The only sour note was the requested replacement of shellfish leading to quite... More

My wife and I visited for lunch on a Saturday and chose the 10 course menu. We have eaten at a few Michelin star rated restaurants most recently dinner by Heston, It has to be said that Daniel Clifford's midsummer house far far surpassed any of our visits to any other restaurant. Why he hasn't more than 1 star is... More

Took my parents here for a special treat as they were visiting Cambridge. Opted for the seven course tasting menu. Absolutely exquisite. Still trying to decide whether the quail or the scallop course was my favourite. Amazing flavours, textures and skill in each and every dish. Was given a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar by the Northern Irish... More

After being showed to our table, a waiter appeared with a trolley, as if by magic 6 bottles of champagne rose majestically from its interior and we were asked if we wished to sample one of them. . Having carefully read the reviews and realised that there would be a number of extras, we chose the 7 courses rather than... More
