With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglias best restaurants. Once youve finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a visit. Relaxed and elegant, with a sunny conservatory and perfect al fresco dining for warm summer evenings, this modern British restaurant offers a wide range of creative dishes with a sophisticated touch learned by Chef Patron Daniel Clifford throughout his years in Britain and Frances best restaurants. Passionate about ingredients, Clifford even uses the harvest from Midsummer Houses own 80 year old apple trees in his cookery.

The food at Midsummer House certainly is not cheap, but for the amount of work and skill that goes into preparing each of the complicated elements of the numerous courses, canapes, chocolates etc you really do get wonderful value for money. The staff are fantastically attentive, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. An all round first class experience for the senses.

We went there for a Birthday lunch and whilst three stars is maybe a bit harsh given the overall quality of the food, it is I think about right for the overall experience. I was hoping to be blown away by every mouthful and whilst some of the dishes were amazing, some were pretty nondescript. The amuse bouche were all... More

In all aspects an outstanding restaurant. Expensive, but very high quality. Good service, excellent wines and service was top class. Formal, but not stuffy. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We came here as a special treat for our wedding anniversary and loved every mouthful. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we were really helped to enjoy the meal - from the amuse bouches, through the whole 7 course tasting menu, to the wonderful beignets and chocolates at the end. Every item we tried delighted the tastebuds, and the kumquat dessert... More

I would have to say this is up there with the best tasting menus I have tried. Drinks in the garden before we got started was a nice touch, however my drink was not topped up when the waitress spilt it taking us to our table. The front of house manager is a character and great fun but also passionate... More

I've seen people complaining about the price, but this is food elevated to an art form. Service is unstuffy and friendly, and the cooking is.. wonderful! No other word for it. From the various amuse-bouche to the final desert (we had two it was so good!), the meal was innovative, flavourful and beautiful. My test for a restaurant is "could... More

We live not far from Midsummer and go periodically to celebrate special occasions. Everything about it is always absolutely wonderful - from the service to the food. I am a vegan and they always cater to me in inventive ways. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Yes, it is expensive but it is more than worth it. An experience... More

This is a Michelin star restaurant so you expect it to be good and Midsummer House certainly does not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special having Champagne and hors d'ouvres in the riverside bar. We had the 5 course menu but with all the little extras they bring it was more like 7 or... More
