I visited Midsummer house on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday with some friends. it had been booked for a few months (as is the case with such restaurants) and I was really looking forward to experiencing the food and ambience. We arrived for our reservation ready to launch into the 7 course taster menu. From the beginning I... More

We have always wanted to visit this restaurant and as it was my birthday my wife treated me to lunch here. The restaurant is small, probably only 60 covers and the choice is a 5,7 or 10 course tasting menu. We opted for a 7 accompanied by an excellent red wine from the Loire valley(£55 an average price for their wine... More

I used to live just off Midsummer Common and have been wanting to visit this restaurant for a long time. It did not disappoint in the least. I made our booking about 6 weeks ago at which time the only availability was for noon. This is earlier than we would normally want to sit down for lunch but we did... More

This was the second time to MSH, this time for lunch. On the basis that the inevitable amuse bouches would fill any corners we chose the entry-level five-course menu. This kind of food (lots of small, skilfully achieved dishes) is normally only encountered in Michelin-starred restaurants and demands a lot of the staff in getting so many plates to table.... More

Any good restaurant can (and should) serve good food. But a great restaurant is one that makes you feel super special from the moment you walk through the door until the moment you leave. The food at Midsummer House lived up to the 2 Michelin stars, but what made the evening for us in our party of six was the... More

From the moment we stepped through the door, everything was perfect. The staff were attentive and friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the dishes. The food was excellent, with such intense flavours. We had the seven course taster menu and it was just heavenly. There were a few dishes on the menu I wasn't keen on and the head waiter was... More

There seem to be enough cookery programmes to whet the appetite as well as provide the chef with the opportunity to promote their wares. Mrs MM has prompted me on a number of occasions to head to Midsummer House, I took the hint eventually. I booked a table for lunch for the Saturday of the first of the May Bank... More

This restaurant is expensive, but good value. Astonishing attention to detail with the food, with tastes and combinations I've never experienced before. Some edge towards quirky, but not as quirky as Fat Duck, and staff are very ready to suggest substitutes. The senior waiting staff were superb, the junior staff were friendly, keen and attentive but nervous, probably early days... More

We went here for a birthday meal and opted for the nine course tasting menu with paired wine. Not a cheap choice but we felt it was the best way to have the full experience. The good - beautifully decorated and comfortable restaurant in a wonderful Cambridge location.the staff on the whole were friendly although the service was slightly mixed.... More
