With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglias best restaurants. Once youve finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a visit. Relaxed and elegant, with a sunny conservatory and perfect al fresco dining for warm summer evenings, this modern British restaurant offers a wide range of creative dishes with a sophisticated touch learned by Chef Patron Daniel Clifford throughout his years in Britain and Frances best restaurants. Passionate about ingredients, Clifford even uses the harvest from Midsummer Houses own 80 year old apple trees in his cookery.

We had the five course menu for lunch and spent at least three hours eating it and that might be the best spent hours I've experienced. Our table was next to the kitchen so we could actually see a bit of what was going on in there, which was nice. The food was superb and so was the wine. The... More

Had a birthday celebration and hired private dining room which is beautifully decorated. There were 11 of us and all chose 7 course tasting menu with flight of wines to go with. Each plate arrived looking stunning and taste was exceptional. Staff were polite and professionals. Atmosphere...... I'm glad there were 11 of us as we made quite a lot... More

This restaurant has been on my "to do" list since seeing Daniel Clifford on Great British Menu, and other TV programmes. I really like his style and methodology toward food. We got a last minute reservation for a Saturday night at 930PM. Very nice restaurant, even with the Cambridge Midsummer Fair going on literally yards away! We got a taxi... More

The most memorable meal I've eaten. The food was first class however what lifted this to another level was the attention to detail and the amazing staff. An all round special place.

As it has come my time to leave Cambridge I decided in my last week I would treat my girlfriend and myself to the 7 course tasting menu and the accompanying flights of wine. The restaurant is quite small, but tables are spaced in a manner where each table has privacy, but you still feel the overall atmosphere. The seats... More

I booked this restaurant for our silver wedding anniversary as a special treat so our expectations were high to start with. Sometimes you can feel a little deflated when the restaurant does not meet your expectations however not in this case. The whole evening was fantastic, the venue, staff, food and wine were superb. We had the 7 course tasting... More

The location and setting is excellent. The five of us had the 10 course tasting menu. Very innovative in general, and plenty of attention to detail in the presentation but perhaps lacked variety in texture somewhat - pureed elements seemed to dominate. Agree with other comments about the difficulty in making out the descriptions given by the waiters. Didn't really... More

A feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Food was excellent as you would expect, the service discrete and helpful.
