Lunch next to a roaring log fire

The meal was delicious, hot, and presented by very friendly and helpful staff. The overall atmosphere is one which encourages you to stay and not face the outside elements.

We have been going to the Blue Lion regularly since we discovered it last year. Can't fault the place. Always a great welcome, delicious new menu, Sunday roast is a must. Can't wait to visit again worth every penny.

Came here as it had good reviews and also not too far away from home. We hadn't booked a table so we just asked if they could fit the 3 of us in for lunch. A waitress said yes that's fine and another showed us to a table. At this point it was quiet in the restaurant area, only one... More

Interesting menu that offers the chance to be a bit adventurous whilst also retaining the standard safe choices. Good ambience, reasonably spacious and comfortable whilst not quite hitting the exceptional heights that warrant a 5 star rating. Decent wine selection albeit no one offering any expertise (or indeed offering to find someone who could) when it was clear that we... More

The service started well, the starters were very tasty, The mains however were less impressive. the lamb steak was tough and not as tasty as lamb should be and the pan fried liver was more akin to school liver (the reason many people hate liver to the day they die). The mains were a shame as the meal started with... More

This unprepossessing pub exterior hides a very superior dining experience. Have visited a number of times and have always been very happy with the breadth of the menu and the quality of the food. A number of nice small touches - such as beautiful breads and interestingly seasoned butters - show a great attention to detail. We always book since... More

18 of us from work went there on the 23rd and had a lovely meal. We were seated in a private conservatory area, so plenty of room. Food was cooked excellent. With everyone's approval. Very flexible as well as I had to change the numbers coming earlier in the day, spoke to the chef and he was very accommodating. Few... More

As other reviewers have found the food in this pub is good. Interesting winter a la carte menu with some old favourites with a twist. The coffee rubbed hanger steak was very tasty. However this is pub food not fine dining, and it is not so good to merit the high price. What is it about eating establishments that ditch... More
