We stopped at this pub for lunch to break a journey. We were intrigued by the menu, which had some very unusual combinations, and ordered food not knowing quite what to expect. Meanwhile, there were three real ales which were well kept. The staff were cloyingly attentive: we were asked at least half a dozen times if we were ready... More

We recently visited this Pub/Restaurant as we had a 20% off voucher to use there. We didn't know what to expect but thought we would give it a try. We live in Stretham near Ely so a little drive for us but well worth it. The Blue Lion is quaint, cosy and comfortable and the atmosphere even better. Staff were... More

The blue lion in hardwick is a beautiful looking pub inside and out and has a stunning beer garden which is perfect for a warm summer evening. It is just such a shame that the food is such terrible value for money and compared to other pubs in Cambridgeshire, is totally lacking in any culinary delight. Because of its convenient... More

This pub is 10 minutes from junctions 13/ 14 of the M11 and is well worth the trip. They have a HUGE gluten free menu. I had fish in batter with chips for the first time in 20 years and it was delicious. (It's cooked in separate oil to make sure it's gluten free.) My partner had lamb and it... More

When you arrive just ask for the Coeliac menu and you are sure of a great surprise. It is nearly as extensive as the standard menu. The food is god quality pub food all we'll prepared and large portions, particularly the starters. All of our party, 3 none Coeliacs, enjoyed their choices and it was a great pleasure to have... You might expect Father's Day to be a nightmare at most eating establishments but the calm professionalism of the staff at the Blue Lion ensured that a meal for 5 people went smoothly at this busy time. A good start was questioning the guest beers available and immediately being offered a sample to taste, wine as well - that doesn't... More

Visited the Blue Lion for Father's Day. We booked as we were a large party of 8 adults and 4 children. Waiter was nice and friendly and took our order quickly. The kids meals came with our starters as we had asked and were good. Unfortunately the main meals took an age to come and when they did were average... More

I would consider myself a regular visitor the the Blue Lion both with friends and family. The staff always afford a warm welcome and it has a good ambience. The recent improvement to the beer garden makes it perfect for a drink and the specials board means you always have a varied choice. Worth a visit. P.S get a loyalty... More

I went here with a couple of friends who had raved about their recent Friday night visit there. They had to agree however that this trip was only average and left us questioning if they have a different chef on the weekends. My smoked chicken salad with avocado and blue cheese dressing lacked any avocado bits, and the I couldn't... More

Self, wife and friends, started off with drinks outside in the garden, it was a lovely sunny day but a slight cool breeze, we ordered but asked for the food to be served inside, in the conservatory. The staff were very helpful, polite, cheerful, even joking and the move to inside was no problem. The two ladies had the lemon... More
